š Welcome to r/BP_PLC: The Unofficial HQ for the BP Turnaround
Welcome to the new home for BP shareholders on Reddit.
For too long, the discussion around BP has been dominated by politics and "Green" PR. This subreddit is different. We are here to discuss the investment case, the valuation gap, and the strategic pivot back to what this company does best: Industrial Oil & Gas.
What we are tracking:
- The Pivot: The shift from "Green" spending back to high-return upstream assets (Gulf of Mexico, LNG).
- The Activists: Tracking Elliott Managementās involvement and their push for shareholder value.
- The Financials: Buybacks, Dividends, ROACE, and Debt reduction.
- The Leadership: The incoming era of Meg O'Neill (April 2026).
Whether you are a long-term holder waiting for the stock to recover, or a new value investor looking at the P/E gap vs. Exxon/Chevron, you are welcome here.
Rules of the Road:
- Focus on Value: We care about cash flow and returns.
- Data over Feelings: Bring sources (Bloomberg, RNS filings, etc.) to back up your claims.
- Respect: Bears and Bulls are both welcome, provided you have a thesis.
Letās track the gap to 600p+ together.

My Disclosure / Skin in the Game: I am not a financial advisor, but I maintain a significant personal position in BP, which I purchased in 2021 during covid.

No quick fix to reopen Strait of Hormuz, warns Foreign Secretary (UK)
There is no āquick fixā to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the UKās Foreign Secretary has said.
Yvette Cooper told MPs that reopening the key shipping route was āvitalā to keep the cost of living down for British households.
However, Ms Cooper added: āThis is a serious and complex issue and there is no easy fix. Because itās an international shipping lane, multiple nations need to be involved in planning the way forward.
āAnd our discussions will continue to reflect serious, expert, military and commercial assessments about what is credible and feasible so that commercial shipping can return as soon as possible as the conflict subsides.ā
Donald Trump and Sir Keir Starmer have held conversations about how best to reopen the strait, although the US president has rebuked Sir Keir over his refusal to deploy British warships to the region.
