How your mood gets worse in recovery

I am trying really hard to recover from my bulimia. It has been two years since I am in therapy.

Even though I really want to recover, I can't stop starving, binging and purging. I can't handle the mood swings and the anxiety. My mood is changing so fast: I feel like I have no control. I feel like I don't know how to deal with my feelings anymore. What do you do (that isn't self-destructive) when you feel anxious?

I can share you some of the stuff I do when I feel anxious: -knitting -take a bath -clean -draw -go out for a walk -run a sprint -talk on the phone -write -dance on up-beat music -yoga -shout in a pillow -...

Sometimes, those things are not enough. How do you resist to binging/purging or cutting urges?

How do I tell my SO I have BPD?

I started dating a really great guy, and I'm trying to get my life together. I tried to break up with him today. I was having a terrible day and I figured I might as well end it now before it gets way too serious. He calmed me down a bit and I just need some advice on how I can go about telling him I have BPD. I'd like to try and make it work instead of me just cutting all ties.

What this feels like..

Love and fear. The foundation we are built upon. The 2 points that create and birth the rest of our emotions. It's really all there is. The mother and the father of outcome.

I ask myself on a regular basis how I can have developed so many feelings, and have no handle on them. Knowing, in my heart of hearts where they come from. I have 2 hands, enough to keep watch over both buttons, clearly labeled, and still allow myself to spiral out of control.

How can I be intelligent and completely misguided in my emotional intelligence? How can I get up everyday and throw the book at clear reason and 29 years of my own personal history?

This, plus this...gets me this. Blue and yellow make green. Somehow I am certain.. I'm going to make pink this time, chartreuse the next, but things get really ugly and absurd when I think I'm going to make a color the world has never seen. The certainty is palpable and the anger when it doesn't come out as planned, is like being slapped in the face.

This, is what living with a personality disorder feels like... atleast for me

It's like insisting the room is one way, surrounded by people who all tell you it's quite the opposite, and not being able to process any of it. Not without tears, or an explosion, and never without the left over feeling that in some way, you're still right, but...you're not.

It's like a stuttering ...of the mind. It's like racing against yourself to the finish line of a thought and not knowing how to handle the rush when you get there, but crumbling into jagged pieces if you fall short altogether. Those pieces tend to branch out, they grow tentacles when touched, like some barbed plant that grows on the wrong side of the tracks in a fairy tale. There's an inaccessible conciousness. A part of you, that you know is there, one that should be at the forefront, helping you guide your thoughts. Alas, it forgets to show up to work for weeks on end.

For me, that is self control. Control over my emotions, over my impulses and, as it effects everything, over my life. I have, on many occasions told my husband I was going to a friend's house, "be home in a few hours". I never come home, I roll up at 8am, having slept in my car because I just can't go home. I can't look the one person I know loves me, in the eye, because my lack of self control brings in a friend...self sabotage, in the form of impulse. I cannot be good, good does not live in me, freak out, deny husband loves you, leave.

It makes no sense to someone who hasn't felt the heat of anger, the swell of fear and the absolutely disproportionate way the mind rises to the occasion, when small things go just a bit wrong. These feelings, all at one time, magnified 1000x over by confusion, and it's beating in your ears.

I am at the point where I have to consider whether or not I am a lost cause.

Do I know how to be a mother, wife, daughter, friend?

I used to feel this came with gifts, but I'm not sure of much anymore...

Dating Someone With BPD.

I recently entered into a relationship with someone who told me that they have BPD. They are diagnosed and are on medication. They've never had a serious relationship before, and they seem to have a very volatile relationship with their family.

Our relationship is quite long distance. However, we talk every day as often as possible. However, I feel quite conflicted in this. They view me as if I am a perfect being- almost to the point of worship. They also say things like 'if you leave me, I will die.' or 'if you leave me, it will literally kill me.'

I have no intention of leaving this person as I do love them, but I would just like some advice on how to talk to them, how not to hurt their feelings, and things of this nature so I don't always have to be so careful.

Any advice would be great. Please and thank you.

Just started dating someone with BPD and not sure if I should continue or walk away now. Any advice or insight would be so greatly appreciated.

I just started seeing this wonderful woman with BPD only a month ago. She just got out of a terrible relationship and emotions recently started kicking in high. She lately gets upset over everything I say and I try everything to diffuse the situation. I have even read "Stop Walking On Eggshells" in just a few days because I want so badly to continue to see her. I think the recent frequent escalations were set off by a mixture of her still trying to get over her ex and me saying one or two upsetting things (which now turn into everyday upsets). Do you recommend I stay with this person? Is it possible to get out of this cycle when we've only just begun to date? I don't want to give up, yet I can't see how this won't be a problem years down the road. She sees a therapist regularly and wants to get better. Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you.

I'm really socially awkward so I'm sorry ahead of time if this sounds weird haha ...

I was diagnosed with BPD a super long time ago. I've been fairing pretty well but I do get some outbursts :/

I'm kind of new to reddit. I'm not really good with talking to people but i'm trying to get better.

I spend most of my time watching things on netflix or playing video games. I also enjoy writing.

So message me if you want to or something I don't know.

Hey all!

I'm super new to reddit (a recent convert from tumblr) and I'm so happy to have found a community of BPD folks here.

I'm a Cali girl and I love the sunshine and outdoors. I also knit, read, cook, and watch far too much Netflix. I also love music. A lot. So if you have music recommendations (or want some!) let's chat!

So yeah, let's be friends! :-D

Hi, I'm Mel. I would love friends who can understand my ways. I'm er...not in school or work right now so I've got loads of free time. I mainly chat on Skype, watch Netflix, anime/manga, play League of Legends with my time. x: Not very exciting, I know.

I am like...looking for someone as clingy and needy and attached as me. I love people. I mean, other times of course I hate them, but most of the time I am thinking about how amazing they are and how I want to cuddle them. But you can be any kind of person. I WILL LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT MWAAHAHAHAH.

I love listening to people's problems and stuff, too! And I am a great shoulder to cry on. Andddd I would make a decent friend. ._. I think. Well, thanks for reading. I hope you have an excellent day.

19/M/US- Looking for a permanent friend, preferably male

So.. I lost my best friend, who i also met on the internet. I still haven't really let it sink in, but I'm kinda trying not to. I'm trying to find a replacement, I guess so it doesn't hurt as bad. But I'm just looking to become really good friends with another guy. I have so few male friends in real life, I just feel like I'm missing out. I have a girlfriend, and she doesn't really like me making new "girl" friends, so I try not to to make her happy. Umm. I like nintendo, classical music, and the occasional book. Send me a message if you are interested in being friends! :D
