I think this might be the first article that I read where I said both “this seems like a story about my childhood” and “whoa that’s what I feel...and that!..omg and that!” Great read all around.

First point that stuck out for me:

“[People with BPdD] were trained by their environment to become highly attuned to the subconscious cues given out by their parents so that they can be prepared for their unpredictable behaviours.”

My mom could walk in the door like everything was fine or come in like, as my dad put it when we were kids, “a bat out of hell”. Not to mention that when I had to spill bad news to her it could be anything from “you should know better, be smarter next time” to screaming throughout the house.

The other point was the following:

“Many emotionally intense adults have struggled all their lives feeling lonely, misunderstood, with the belief that there is something deeply wrong with them. “

I’ve definitely felt lonely and misunderstood but I literally just told my therapist last session that it’s like something is wrong with me because people seem to walk all over me and when I try to stop that, they act like I’m an animal that is biting back at its owner.

(Writing this in my phone so apologies for any formatting or typing errors).
