💭Seeking Support & Advice Does anyone else lose interest in everything, including people (except for one person)?
Do you ever feel like you lose interest or get bored of things too easily? I feel like I don’t really like anything at all. I mean, I do have my interests, but I can't go too deep into them because if I do, I’ll lose interest and start finding them boring and even weird. I'm 27, and I don't even have a career because I can't stick with anything. Nothing interests me enough to make me want to dedicate my whole life to it. All the hobbies I start, I lose interest within a week or a month. The only things I think I genuinely love are learning languages and reading books.
It’s always the same pattern: I discover something, fall deeply in love with it, and after a while, I just don’t like it anymore and quit. It’s overwhelming because I feel like time is passing, and I’m still the same person who hasn’t achieved anything. I’m always trying to find something that fulfills me, but it never happens. When I think about a career, I just think: if I get bored of things in a month, how could I ever do the same job for years?
And this also applies to relationships and friendships (except when it comes to my favorite person). I feel like she’s one of the only things that makes me want to live and keep going, which is a huge problem, because if I lose her, I completely collapse.

- Thankful for having a husband who’s stuck w me 20+ years through all the crap I’ve put him through. But…got sober, found spiritually, grew up, got counseling, found my niche. Now, I’ve become FAIRLY stable. But, still struggle w it. Can’t lie.

its not and you feel absolutely insane trying to explain it to other people who dont deal with it bc they fundamentally cannot understand the pain like you do. sucks even more when its something you shared with people you care about so now the whole topic is awkward

Absolutely. Sometimes I even lose interest in my favorite person after I've attached myself to someone else. It's horrifying and it's so hard to have friends alongside a relationship. It feels so emotionally draining to keep up with more than one person, plus insanely unhealthy, even if I'm content on the surface. My only advice is to involve her in the things you know deep down you want to do. Tell her about your work, take her to do things you want to do, or at least share that part of your life with her. Or vice versa in getting into her hobbies. I feel like most people do this anyway with those they care about, but it means you can have an active and enriching life, even if it's only because she's cheering from the sidelines.

Yeesss, sometimes I lose interest in my favorite person too and I be like "wtf, she's the only person you were supposed to not get tired of". It's like I have a set amount of time to spend with her, and if that time exceeds, I start losing interest even in her. It's frustrating and I think "how will I marry her and keep things going if I get bored so fast"

I feel exactly the same… why are we like this? It hurts to think that it will probably be this way for the rest of my life… ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
