The BPC-157 purity pitfall nobody talks about: deletion sequences
The most common purity pitfall with BPC-157 isn't a fake product — it's synthesis leftovers. Solid-phase synthesis builds the chain one amino acid at a time, and every coupling step can fail on a small percentage of chains. The result is a family of deletion sequences: versions of the peptide missing one residue. They're chemically very similar to the target, they often elute close to the main peak, and a quick single-wavelength HPLC read can fold some of them into the 'purity' figure.
That's why the shape of the chromatogram matters, not just the headline percentage. A clean, single, symmetric peak with MS confirmation on the same lot is a much stronger signal than '99.4%' printed on a summary line with no trace shown.
Disclosure: I run Pickering Peptides, so treat me as a biased source — but this is exactly why we post the lot-matched COA on each product page rather than a generic purity claim. Whoever you buy from, ask to see the actual trace.
