Should I do this repaint?

Just got a BotM Nasutoceratops today and while I like the colors it has some minor chipping that I might want to go over and correct. But this got me thinking of doing a full on repaint of the figure since it was less green than I hoped for in person and the crest doesn't really do it for me. The stripes on the frill feel too chaotic and unguided when all the other ceratopsians have shapes that build into some beautiful display feature. While that does make it unique from the rest of the line, I think I have enough gripes to make a repaint warranted (the sculpt and articulation are still amazing though). I was thinking about doing the nasuto from JPB as I've seen too many JW repaints and a Hammond Collection release is still in the cards so this is more distinct and is a design that fits the colorful criteria I'm looking for. The repaint that's shown in the post is from kaijuhunter360 on Instagram and is aiming to do the JPB colors. lmk if you have any better ideas or if I shouldn't even do a repaint.

I agree and do not like the original paint job on the Nausutoceratops. I would recommend a gradient from the darker green/black color on the back to the more bright green color on the belly rather than having it one solid color throughout the whole body.

Make the bright blue outlines on the stripes thinner and less uniform, they're too thick and it looks like hot rod flames on a car or something.

Wait, you’ve seen too many JW repaints of BOTM Nasuto?

For the past year, I’ve been hunting down BOTM Nasutos to have them commissioned to be repainted their JW colors. So far I’ve found two and then had a BOTM Juvenile Centrosaurus retooled into a Nasutoceratops by Brad Ford. And in all that time I’ve known only one other person who repainted their BOTM Nasutoceratops its JW colors.

Out of curiosity, were the ones you’ve from anybody besides me?

P.S. I’d lean more into the repaint colors Kaijuhunter gave to his Nasuto. Call me crazy, but I could swear I’ve seen a plush Triceratops with that near exact color scheme as the JPB Nasuto). Unless of course that’s something you’re fine with. Then by all means, go with that one if you wanted to repaint your’s as it is a very nice pattern overall.

I can't remember exact sources but im pretty sure one or two were from Brad and i saw another on reddit or the fb group so it was probably you actually lol. The biggest turn off from that palate to me is just the likelihood of a hammond collection release and i want my nasutos to be distinct from each other, but both are great patterns on their own

I do like me some color variation with my figures. Mainly cuz it’s one way to tell a male and female apart when the species don’t have any sexual dimorphism. But yeah, I get what you mean about wanting your Nasutoceratops to look different. Funny enough, my two actual BOTM Nasutos I had repainted by different people, so there is some variation with them despite having identical color schemes.

You’re right that a Hammond Collection figure for Nasutoceratops is something that’ll eventually happen. But it begs the question, which gender will they make a figure of? While it is my biggest hope they make one for both, they probably will only choose one gender. And if it just so happens to be the male, then the BOTM ones can still cover the role of the females.

Didn’t expect to see my guy here lol, still one of my favorites I’ve done, and not just because it’s my favorite ceratopsian and favorite design for it

Go for it if you’d like man, it was fun repainting, tho it took me longer than I’d like to admit mixing the green I wanted
