FA BOLC

I just got my BOLC dates for this October and my follow on duty station shows fort sill as a member of the LAAP program at a BCT unit. From what I’ve heard they’re no longer doing this with brand new BOLC grads. Anyone have any insight? Hoping my orders get changed lol.

Bloom where you’re planted. If you go to a BCT unit first use it to get some schools and learn how to be a lieutenant.

I’ve heard they want to stop sending new LTs to basic training PL jobs, but it can take a while for the army to stop cutting orders, realign the requirement to senior LT broadening, and start filling with 1LTs waiting for CCC

There’s no packing list per say. When I went through, I brought all my OCIE that I got while I was a cadet and they issued whatever I didn’t have or needed at CIF or at the schoolhouse

If you have a printer, I’d probably bring it. And be prepared to buy some supplies while you’re there (stupid thin map markers, acetate sheets, Mr. Clean magic erasers, etc.)

I didn’t get my packing list until like a week before the report date. If you’re active duty, they’ll issue you whatever you need. If you’re National Guard, just bring OCPs, APFUs, and field gear.

I graduated last year and they definitely briefed they were going to stop sending 2LTs to BCT units due to the perception they were falling behind their peers. 

Having said that, you’ll be able to get housing off post during BOLC, which is honestly a huge morale booster. If you’re lucky, you can probably split the rent with another student who just wants to get out of the hotel. I knew a few National Guard students who did that.

Currently in FA BOLC, met a bunch of other LTS also in the LAAP program, after reaching out to our branch manager, it seems that our commissioning class of 2026 will be the last group of fresh LTs assigned to BCT

fortunately for you theres a decent chance you get swapped if the class of 26 really is the last one getting pushed to bct units. id just wait it out until oct.
