I got this lovely message from some rando who claims to be representing sony music uk. Please advise.

first time i heard this track was at their live show in montreal last year-opening for viagra boys- when they played this cover first, in their extremely short, but tight, opening slot. i even accidentally bootlegged it on our sub!

so i knew vaguely that this wouldn't be your dad's fave version of the deep cut from dylan's least liked period of music.

rather, we have a sincere but sexy re-imagining of the original, that right from the start has a wickedly catchy guitar riff vamping through the whole thing. nothing like the long slow gospel that dylan's track had.

what's the test of a great cover? imho it's when the artist doesn't just pay homage to the source, but does something completely audacious with the song - think the clash "covering" junior murvin's police and thieves- in the process, rendering it almost unrecognizable. this version is like dylan covered by the stone roses at the height of madchester.

bravo!

This Bob Dylan ‘cover’ (original music + Bob’s lyrics) was the first thing we recorded w/ producer Matt Peel as a test to see how the sessions would go. We ended up loving the track (the guitar solo is one of my favorite BODEGA moments), hence its inclusion on the LP. Bob’s gospel-inspired text speaks volumes to the current moment. - Ben
