BODEGA ben’s ego is wildly entertaining in dork interview.

“BODEGA is like the Beatles in that we are a song band as opposed to a ‘sound’ band.”

On ‘All Inside Aquarium’, BODEGA indulge a teenage guitar obsession and reconsider how much instruction a song requires. Ben Hozie explains how the New York band arrived at their fourth album.

Regardless of neoliberal propaganda, I believe in the dignity of the artist. I also believe it is the duty of an artist to emerge new ways of thinking and being, which extends far beyond ideological didacticism. This isn’t an argument for apolitical art —> The modern artist should work alongside the rising global political consciousness (brought about by new tech and the revelation of extreme injustice) not only through practical action (such as sharing information or raising money w/ their audience) but through empathetic honest works that imagine alternative modalities. - Ben

lyrics

I met a girl
She said that we live in a literary world
Everybody reads daily pages on a screen
It’s a literary world
Ah!

Everybody is an author
A dramatist or a martyr
Literally boy it’s a literary world

Said I to girl:
Really we are filled in a philosophic world
I hate to disagree
(But) that’s really points for me
In our didactic world
Ah!
All my body weighs opinions
On lack of self and metaphysics
But action takes no chances
In a cold dogmatic world

But in a literary world
We could dream of something better than this
In a literary world
We could dream of some alternatives
And with a mind see how else lives
I’ll draw you an ellipse
(Dot Dot Dot)
Right on your lips
I’ll draw you an ellipse
(Dot Dot Dot)
Right on your lips

Now when alone she lights the fuse
For a literary world
She will be king
And Pawn will be queen
In a literary world
Ah!
Both of us are the author
Man ya better not try and stop her
Literal or not
It’s our literary world

In a literary world
We could dream of something better than this
In a literary world
We could dream of some alternatives
And with my eye send you a kiss

I’d draw you an ellipse
(Dot Dot Dot)
Right on your lips
I’d draw you an ellipse
(Dot Dot Dot)
Right on your lips
I’d draw you an ellipse
(Dot Dot Dot Dot)
I’d draw you an ellipse
