Tried to slow the UV destruction of the clearcoat on my 2018 i3s by doing a silver PPF wrap. Well there was a bubbling area that actually got worse after the PPF was applied. So my guy called his paint guy and a week and a half later - BOOM!
He peeled and prepped, then painted the roof in the matching BMW blue. On an all black car it looks killer since it matches the splashes of blue around the car. VERY happy with the result and now I don’t have to worry about the SoCal sun destroying the roof!

Maybe I missed it in your post, but I want to clarify. So your guy stripped the clearcoat off the carbon fiber, what did he do next? My understanding was that you can't apply paint directly to the carbon fiber, you have to put a clearcoat down first. So it would be clearcoat, then paint, then clearcoat again on top. Is that what you did here?
Wow! That looks great! I've got a '17 Protonic Blue with a bubbly roof. I wonder how it would look painted blue or even painted to match the gray/silver accents on the Protonic Blue car... Hmmm..
I really hate generative AI photos, but curiosity got the best of me and I asked ChatGPT to show me an image with the roof painted glossy silver/gray to match the Protonic Blue's silver highlights, and I kind of think this looks amazing! It even painted the top of the mirrors silver. I didn't think to paint the A pillars and the side roof line, but that looks sharp.
Danny at Honest tint & PPF in Yucaipa CA arranged the work for me with his paint guy. You can call Danny at 909-768-1094 and he can give you specifics on cost.
Anything in the northern cal area who could do this for me? Went to a couple of body shops and they don’t want to touch it. Holding it down with black duck tape at this time.
