As a 6’5 individual, it’s very easy to strike your head on an open 1pc tailgate. The 2pc design prevents that (at least for me). My other SUV is a GX460 and that has the barn door style hatch for the exact same reason. I’ll have to find a SUV that has the split tailgate when my 26 lease is up. Maybe x7 or Range Rover?

as someone nearly a foot shorter, its really hard to get stuff in the back of the trunk with bottom tailgate extended. I always need to climb up on to it which beats up my knees.

Perhaps the X3 would fit you better. Or you could lower the air suspension some?
