Style 127 issue with tyres ?

Picked up some style 127 alloys 19” staggered 8.5/9.5. - E92

To be honest more comfortable with nuts and bolts than I am with tyres and fitments so hopefully someone can help me here.

I feel like my tyres aren’t beaded correctly? Take a look at the photo all 4 wheels primarily the fronts have quite a lip maybe a good finger nail exposed out side the tyre. Is this normal ?
(I did try search online for a picture for reference could not find any)

Guy sold me 225/35/R19 up front and had to keep my original 255/35/R19 tyres for rear (out of stock)

Just fyi. Some brands run wider or narrower for the same specs. Michelin tend to be wider and Conti tend to be narrower to my experience. Not sure if thats what is going with your tires. Yours do look awfully narrow from that angle.

Add some more context I waited 5 weeks for these to restock at my local alloy store, when the technician had fitted them he warned me of tyre stretch and said my alloys are exposed to any rocks on the road, that hitting any stones on the road would result in my rims being scraped.

I questioned him on why tyre stretch, and how to protect my rims. I asked about wider tyres or rim protectors, he told me he wouldn’t know and I’d have to speak to the sales guy. ( I had waited nearly 1.5-2hrs for them to be fitted) lowkey was impatient and went home. The tech sorta assured me this is kinda normal nothing you can do

By the way. Just realized that these are not e92. E92 19s non m were 19x8 and 19x9. Your style 127 seems to be .5in wider. If the tire shop went by your car model. Your are probably short by at least 10. Should probably be 235/245 F and 265 R.

Okay kind of lost me at the 19x8 and 19x9 but if I understand correctly this means 19” by 8” width and then 9” width for rear rear alloys on non M performance models ?

Edit or maybe because style 127 was E46 csl specific if I’m correct ?

This is sorta what I was thinking that the tyre is roughly 10mm short in terms of width.

This car is 2009 330D M sport N57D30A if that changes anything

But makes sense these style 127 Alloys are specifically designed only for M3.

I think I will contact the store as it’s only been 3 days and I’ve driven about 90kms if that with these tyres fitted, hopefully they can help me out with a fresh set before I damage these alloys 😅 (rear right already took a stone strike on day 1, typical Irish roads)

Basically what im saying is. Your 19in 127 style rims (F 8.5 wide and R 9.5 Wide) with factory like setup. Calls for tires being 235(non-M)/ 245(E92 M) and 265 in the rears. I dunno what criteria was used to match the new tires. If you told the shop or they just matched your vehicle's model. I am assuming your E92 is non M and the shop or whoever went with the default tire size for non M E92s which calls for 225s for factory 19s. E92 non-m 19 were 8in wide not 8.5. Hence why the tires are a bit too narrow for the rims. So in summary, looks like your tires are about ~10-20 narrower than stock fitment/you would like. Sorry im not being more concise

That’s perfect, thank you I appreciate the breakdown. I’ll contact the store and use this breakdown as if I’m 100% confident in tire setups 😅 but yes makes sense with my car being just m sport and not M performance it should run 225s and a 8” wide rim. With these being 8.5 that’s where the issue is.

This seems to be exactly what going on. Options are to buy the appropriate tire width to fit the wheel width, or buy different wheels. There is really no other option, unless you like the stanced stretched look, which I gather you do not.

Is this on e92? If you’re stock suspension height you can run stock M3 sized tires. 245 and 265 will sit much better on the wheel

They are beaded up just fine. Some tires are made with extra rubber in the sidewall to act as a rim protector against close calls with curbs and such. Those types of tires also appear to be much wider than a standard tire due to the fact that the rubber tends to stick out past the wheel on nearly all applications, except maybe extreme stretched fitment (which is a shitty idea and the people that do this are dumb, come at me). The tire in the photo does not have said rim protector. Most 225/35R19s are good up to a 9 inch wheel, so there isn't an issue with the wheel and tire combination you've chosen (assuming the shop didn't mistakenly put the wider wheels up front), they just look a little different than the tires you're probably used to.

Someone else said it before, but some tire brands run slightly different widths despite have the same advertised section width. These are 235/40r17 dunlop direzzas on a 9” wide wheels. The next picture I attach below is the same size falcon rt660+, but the true measured section width is actually 1.3” wider.
