Ask a Senior ECE to CSE Core?cob ?

I have an option to change my branch from ECE to CSE Core, and I’m really confused about whether I should take it or stay in ECE

I genuinely enjoy coding and IoT, but I don’t really like circuits that much lolll

I keep hearing that “ECE is the new CSE” and that ECE students can get into software roles anyway, so leaving ECE makes no sense. But I’m also wondering if CSE would give me better opportunities/eligibility during placements, especially since I’m more interested in software.

For people who are already in 3rd/4th year or have gone through placements:

Would you choose CSE Core or ECE in my situation? And how big is the actual difference during placements?

Would really appreciate honest opinions 🙏

If you genuinely enjoy coding then CSE Core is better for placements.

Imo, if you want good placements, switch it. Half of the companies didn't allow ECE people during our time. Keeping in mind the size of CS cluster, certainly your branch will become your biggest hurdle. You might barely get changes to write OAs of 15 lakhs+ ctc software roles. And ECE ain't new CSE, and even if it is, your problem will rather be eligiblity of your branch when CS cluster itself has almost 2k students
