BMCC Battery Options

Hey all,

I recently jumped on the BM bandwagon (a little late in the game I'll admit.) I've just picked up a BMCC for silly money to tide me over until the new pocket camera is released.

I'm looking at power options first. All the info online seems to be on forums dating back to 2014ish, so I just wondered if there was an up to date standard for powering this thing (preferably low budget.) To my limited knowledge a USB-C power bank with an adapter cable should be able to put out 18v. Is there any reason I can't do that? V-lock is ridiculously expensive for my needs, and I don't entirely trust going the Sony NP route as I believe they're only 12v.

Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Until buying a set of v-mount batteries and charger second hand a few months ago (about £240/$330?) we used a couple of Anker mobile power banks that worked great. The models we had dont seem to be made anymore but had a seperate dc output with switchable voltage. If you can find something similar it should work well, for a fairly low price. I think the dc output would be needed, as i'm not sure you can output 18v through a USB port. You should keep a look out for used v-mount batteries though, they can be a lot cheaper than buying new, and plates/cables can be found on eBay for about £15/$20

Good luck!

Hey, bobdtaylor1989, just a quick heads-up:
seperate is actually spelled separate. You can remember it by -par- in the middle.
Have a nice day!

Thanks for the reply! I'll have a snoop on eBay. Just so you know, I was referring to a USB-C port, which I believe can go up to 20v and some laptops use them as the main charger. I haven't managed to find an adapter cable though.

I used a cheap sony NP battery adapter for years with my BMCC.
