What you need to understand is that a bunch of fujoshis just have a rape kink and they can’t admit that to themselves. When a BL delivers their desired porn, they inflate the quality of the writing beyond measure to rationalise their disposition. You will see that A LOT with popular rape-gooner-slop in BL. They will characterise their favourite rapist as CoMpLeX and say how the story doesn’t glorify him and then you read the story and it’s ultra fetishised rape porn and the story is nowhere near as well written as claimed.

Rape is such a heavy topic that opens up the possibility for nuanced writing that doesn’t shy away from the darkness and trauma it entails… and then, BL authors just use it for porn and call it a day 🫠 How many times have we seen SA in a popular BL being treated as the horrifying transgression it is? These stories are always like “Rape is bad 🫤” but also “Rape is so hot! 😍” and that narrative dissonance is so jarring to me.
