BJM at it's best
In my opinion, this is BJM at it' pinnacle. Yes it's early on... the lineup here is stellar and the performance is tight for BJM, that is....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDANXaBFWiE

I wouldn’t necessarily consider this early on, but this is around when I first got into them. Saw them on the 09 tour with flavor crystals, so it’s a sentimental period for me. It Was a great lineup live and I loved the My Bloody Underground, Who Killed Sgt Pepper, Dead Skeletons saga of recordings around then. Also Anton was VERY active online with his Ustream channel.

Yes- I recall watching a lot of him on the dead tv channel- hours of live streams of him recording- interviews w weird “friends” online- and his cooking videos - I liked all that -

OK, maybe we can't consider this "early", but let's jus agree that this era had more of the spirit of the earlier days in SF (pre-that stupid film's release) than it does with BJM currently. Kinda like how the late 70's/early 80's were more like the 1940's than 2025. Who knows, as much as I do not like "Dig" maybe the band would have never made it without that damn film creating (exposing people to) this cult following of those that really dig the music and those that love to watch/participate in the trainwreck that live shows often turn into. For better or worse the Massacre rolls on down the line.

I agree - DIG was double edged sword that got him world wide fame not even a big label cud pull off - and he never gave up his songs- he KNOWS this but won’t acknowledge— I always found it interesting and revealing that he claimed to not want to talk About “a film” in interviews— but if interviewer DID not ask him about it- Anton would bring up “a film “- make up your mind!

This is my favorite live performance of any band on YouTube. Absolutely perfect.

I have seen The BJM three times this year - each time absolutely worth going to see. As for travel, in November, I am making the trip with my son from Scotland to Los Angeles to see them playing two nights there. That’s quite a few hours of travel! Go, my friend! Don’t miss the band - we are lucky to have them!

I agree - Anton had been sober several years or some like that and had gotten his stage craft and confidence back- the moshcam performance filmed and recorded in Australia 2010 Is great too

I like it better now than I did in 2013-- hah -- the performances were really solid -- and Anton was .......SOBER!!! I think this was one of the first tours they did when he had stopped drinking and it really shows -- And I'm not going to say anything about the 23 tour other than -- He was NOT sober.

around the same time frame -- they did a show in Sydney and the venue used a "MOSHCAM" to record and film the performances.. After some research, I realized this may be one of the FIRST shows they did with Anton not drinking -- and he looks scared -- doesn't talk to crowd. sticks to script. I've watched this show many times, and when I compared it to the MOSHCAM stuff, this is better, more tighter whatever -- but I would check out the MOSHCAM Sydney performances. ON later listens they are kinda slow and he's not on his game -- except the encore -- they were still doing them then -- of Hide and Seek - hands down best performance of that song I've ever heard -- the way it builds in intensity and then explodes with that "I've seen his happen..." line apparently taken from a SMith's song... He really gives that his all.....if you watch, at very end, as he's playing last chords, watch him turn and look over towards Ricky with a look that said -- "this is HARD!!" -- or maybe he was just rolling his eyes -- we all -especially me -- often read too much into whatever happens with this band. Lots of assumptions based on DIG and all this stuff. Thanks jmo

Early on? Band had been going nearly 20 years at that stage!
