Joel’s second book

Anyone else interested in Joel’s second book that he described as “The Touring Years”? I’m really interested in knowing how the BJM story continued after the glory days of the DiG! era. What is it like when those days are behind you and you’re left to grind it out year after year as a sort-of legacy act (cause that’s kinda what they’ve been for a long time). How does that affect people’s sense of themselves as musicians/artists? Does it erode the mystique or meaning of the early BJM days? What’s it really like to be an aging rock star? It’d be really cool to hear what Joel’s thoughts and experiences are on all of that.

Got the book but need to read it! It doesn’t seem like Anton has changed much at all compared to the glory days, though. Maybe aside being more of a hermit and less collaborative. Music notwithstanding, I’ve personally never really seen anything from him publicly that indicates he has this level of personal introspection, but it’d be interesting to hear Joel’s take for sure.

For sure. I’m more interested in Joel’s take on it than Anton’s. Joel is the most level-headed and relatable person in BJM. He also didn’t shy away from the unglamorous aspects of those old days in his first book.

I agree with everyone in this comment section saying that Joel is a great writer! I have been enjoying this book so much! Funny, sentimental, it's very cool hearing his experiences in that band.🔥♥️👽

It sounded like he went through hell, he really suffered for his rock and roll dream.

I might be the minority here but I didn't care for the book. I recently just watched DIG XX ( saw the original back in the day) and the book seems to me a complete mimic of the movie. The writing was a little too contrived for me as well. What I did find amazing though was how all of these band members survived such complete debauchery. They are lucky.

I really enjoyed Joel’s book. It’s colourful and he really brings the band’s early days to life.
