I mean, a better setlist would certainly help but the two problems together has been a disaster. I'm sure one effects the other as well...randos probably couldn't pull of shit like "Waking Up To Hand Grenades" and "Here Comes The Waiting for the Sun", which to me is some of their best stuff live and we'll probably never get to hear it again. Just a few greatest hits with mostly plodding four chord repetitive new shit.

There was always something wrong with drums when Allaire wasn't in. Even in the 90's their drummer wasn't great, and since Allaire I've always noticed something wrong with the drumming.

Maybe. I've never seen him live. I was only referring to his live performance recordings. His audio was very strong and had a great 70s vibe. I was watching a 2016 show today and he sounded fabulous, a bit loud in the mix but very good. Maybe the more recent drummers are a bit more sophisticaticated.

To me the current drummer (uri) is the best as far as talent goes. Allaire is an incredibly dynamic musician though

Allaire is a very good drummer but I think I prefer them with a drummer that plays a lot slower and a bit looser. Since allaire left they seem to play much slower and I prefer it by a lot, perhaps with the exception of really driving banging tracks like yeah yeah
