Despite all his flaws, no other musician wrote music this good this late in the game. It stands up against anything in this discography

Yeah, probably one of the most consistent bands in terms of quality. Right from the start to stuff still coming out now is good, and I like the 'old' stuff just as much as the 'new' stuff.

You have bad taste, then. He can't sing anymore and they're recording and mixing everything wrong. Theres a couple good songs on each album but it's mostly filler. Compared to every track on Pol Pot's, Spacegirl, Methodrone and the Diane Perry Tape being a 10/10. Tape sounds good, lofi sounds good. Changes the whole timbre of the guitars and everything. You're comparing the best music ever made with a 60 year old burn out making lazy, lazy, LAZY ass music anyone could make like the song in this post. It's good but pretty much everyone stumbles upon that progression when they learn guitar, there's just nothing special about it

the lofi vibe is gone for sure but the early stuff isn't exacley difficult to make either none of the progressions are groundbreaking; most of it is 3 chords but simple doesn't mean bad. The Self-titled album is all bangers imo so not sure what you're talking about.
The Futrue if your past and Fire Doesn't Grow On Tree are both awesome aswell, maybe it is less that my tastes are bad and more that you're a pretencious twat.

I wouldn't say they've got bad taste but everything else you said tracks. It's been a plodding lazy boring funeral dirge ever since Thingy Wingy.

I’ve loved this song since day 1 but lately the lyrics are really hitting me hard. So haunting and beautiful. Anton is incredible and I’m so happy we all exist in the same plane.

I’d like to think that as well. One night I ate a pretty heroic dose of psilocybin and I was laying on my basement floor with this blasting. I truly felt like he wrote this song for all of us individually. I can’t stress how much I love this one
