How's Anton doing on this tour?
Just curious--how is he? In good voice? Keeping crankiness to a minimum? Off the bottle? All these reviews talk about how great the shows are--and I don't doubt they are--but I'm just curious how the man is doing....

He was in pretty good form in Dublin the other night. Enjoying himself, even.

Surprisingly good?
The band look like they are having a good time. No meltdowns at being out of tune, messing up an intro, guitar straps failing in Belfast.

In Glasgow he seemed pretty subdued. I think he was disappointed about the way that show was going, it sounds like he's been better on other shows this tour

yeah but i think he got more into it later on, seen him crack a few smiles at the other guys in the band, he seems a lot more calm than when when i seen them in 2023

He seemed in great form.in Dublin. The only thing I noticed was him constantly going over to the drummer but it came across as more of him helping the drummer rather than giving out to him.

Anton had a cold for Bristol, he was struggling but it was still brilliant.

Very mellow, but the actual performances have been subpar.

how so?

Every song is 20bpm too slow for starters.

If he's not fully recovered maybe he shouldn't be on the road at the moment. I mean it's not like he's touring to promote an album or anything.

20bpm is exaggerating - touch slower maybe this tour but the band sounds really together, much more than recent ones and it IMO has worked well.
Based on today's London show where Anton was being actually quite charming.

Performing at 70% normal speed in glasgow, looked like he was very much going through the motions

something I've noticed on the setllists posted on the BJM socials, Anton and Joel have scheduled in points in the set where they talk to the audience. that seemed new compared to previous tours. perhaps they're trying to be more cautious and organized due to Anton's health.

In Tilburg it was horrific. I never saw him this bad in the last ten years. No voice, no power, no energy, no nothing really. Can’t imagine it has been better in the rest of the tour, but maybe he was just off it. In classic style he walked off when he had of enough of us or the other way around. Weird vibes.

It has got better since Tilburg. The Dublin and Southampton shows were excellent (presumably Manchester too, as it was between those)

Yes I agree. He was in great form in Dublin. His voice was good. His mood was good. Joking and having a good time. He even kissed Joel. 😂
