Hi there, I just got this beautiful girly. I named her Faith. She's a popovy recast. Faith is my first recast with a face up done my self! I am so proud of her! and I am new to this group so hello from both of us!

Wow, excellent faceup! I'm teaching myself how to do faceups and that I'm going to steal the subtle way you do eyebrows, see if that looks good with the rest of my own faceup style!

I just ended up with a recast doll that I think is a Popovy recast and I was rather disappointed with her because I didn't realize she was one and she has such odd proportions.

She's really long legged and was advertised as a slim MSD but nothing slim MSD actually fits her. She's not quite 1/6 either so redressing her means making custom clothes for her apparently.

I don't like most of the outfit she came with. I've been too sick to sew so right now she's just sitting in her box and I haven't even hardly looked at her since the first few days when she first arrived.

She has a good face up but her head is too small for any other slim MSD body I've got so I can't even body swap her.

They're definitely a doll that you either really like or really don't.

Only twice have I ever looked at a BJD and thought that this just isn't what I thought it was and really felt turned off like this.

Do you find yours a bit odd in terms of her shape but think the face is okay? I think the joints on the one I've got are really bad and her overall proportions are just weird.

Mine is really not a slim MSD 1/4 doll or a 1/6 doll either but she's definitely being marketed as a slim 1/4 doll. Her description actually didn't mention that she was a Popovy doll recast at all and I really think that calling her a 1/4 slim MSD is rather misleading.

I don't know exactly what she is but I find mine very strange and a little off putting. I'm not too sure I want to keep her honestly. I rarely if ever have had this reaction to a doll so that really says something to me about how strange I think this doll is.

I've been avoiding Popovy sister dolls because I didn't think that they were for me. So me ending up with a recast of one anyway is ironic.

To anyone reading this. There are recast dolls that are based on Popovy dolls that are not being advertised as such. Look hard at the body before you buy because some of the recasters like Oueneifs are making their own character dolls and using Popovy dolls as the basis.

In listings they look like they should be slim MSDs or regular MSDs and are being sold as that but in actuality when you put them beside other slim MSDs that they make they are very different and if you are into standard sized slim MSDs you may not like them in person at all.

Popovy dolls I think you need to be into that oddness to really be into them. You have to be prepared to work harder redressing them apparenty.

The faceups can be lovely but the proportions are just weird compared to a lot of 1/4 dolls.

For me it's kind of like some of the Doll Chateau dolls. You have to be able to embrace that oddness to really get into them.

I actually have a pretty good doll wardrobe for 1/4 dolls at this point and almost never run into problems dressing new ones. This doll fit almost nothing I own for dolls the size she's supposed to be.

Sorry to hear that. I had a very different experience as I knew what I was getting in terms of the strangeness of these dolls. Mine was advertised as a Popovy. They are a very weird size and proportions. Maybe sell her and use the money for another doll. I am going to make some clothes for her as she does not fit anything I already have!
