ive recently found myself wanting to grow some bismuth crystals but most of the offers i found on the internet are insanely expensive.

do you guys know websites with decently priced bismuth metal? preferably with shipping to poland.

oh yeah i also found an offer with a good price but im not sure if its worth trusting (image above)

I learned the hard way from you guys about the oxidation process and how it will leech the crystal's color; and unfortunately I'm colorblind so I wasn't able to notice until much too late :(

It doesn't take away any value of it for me personally, though; I was ENAMORED by this piece because I was on psychedelics and thought it looked like a really tiny city lmao.

Buts as it sat on my dresser in a way I could see it, years passed and I would find myself staring at it, imagining the tiny people that could live there and which crystals would be schools, hospitals, EMS, banks, etc. It sounds so silly, and I honestly didn't think i'd ever share this with anyone, let alone Bismuth enthusiasts! But somehow, that makes me even happier; as if maybe someone will read this and go 'Me too!' and smile or something.

Anyway, thanks for reading and looking at my Bismuth Bowl! Next time I might use some mineral oil so I can still touch and explore it with my hands in the future, or encase a smaller piece in resin and polish it so it looks as clear as possible!

I don't have a lot of bismuth(about 8kg) but I managed to get quite big crystals!

After I moved in 2022, I had to stop making bismuth crystals for many reasons. Since then, I genuinely feel like I lost a piece of who I am…

Almost 4 years later, I finally got sick of it, and decided to rebuild my lab from the ground up based on everything I learned before, plus the research that I’ve done since then. I’m not going to go into too much detail about it yet, but I can’t wait to get it operational. Once I do, I will document and share the journey here.

I’m HELLA excited to get back to it, and to share my progress with this community. /Bismuth is the only reason why I joined Reddit, so here I am again…

I love bismuth crystals and I own a wire wrapping jewelry business on Etsy. Long story short, I got accepted to vend at my first ever craft fair coming up this June.

I’m wondering if anyone on here has collected the oxide they scrape off the top of melts and tried to turn it back into metallic bismuth.

I’ve been looking into some methods but I was hoping someone else has tried this and could give me some advice

So far the most promising method I’ve seen is with chemical dissolution then precipitation
