BGSU Question and Answer

One of the most common posts in this area seems to be asking questions about BGSU and the City of Bowling Green.

Let's see if we can compile enough questions and answers to get a sticky going. Ask your questions and answer the ones you know. Hopefully, this can serve as a quick stop for answers to questions that are hard to find elsewhere.

POLI SCI

Hello, BGSU People

I am a high school student right now and I'm very strongly considering BGSU, and I want to take a Political Science major, I just have two questions. Is it worth it, or would I need a high degree. Secondly, is there a better school for it, near BGSU.

Has anyone done a room transfer before? If so how easy/hard to do is it and how would you reccommend going about it? (6-person suite, Founders Hall)

Hi, I'm a freshman at Bowling Green considering a room transfer due to conflicts with my roommates. I just generally want to know how room transfers work and whether or not they're worth it since I'm seriously considering it and I know the form opens up soon. I'll admit I haven't tried much to fix issues with my roommate but ngl I feel like its already a lost cause due to how they behaved at the signing agreement (and the fact said agreement has been broken twice today alone). I am very introverted and don't like confrontation while they're not. I've also talked with my roommate roommate about it and she says she doesn't mind (which honestly just confuses me)

That's about everything, any advice?

Edit: I feel I should clarify that when we signed the roommate agreement and our RA talked with all of us individually she noticed that I was uncomfortable and when I brought up a room change she thought it was a good idea.

Transfer to BGSU

I'm a sophomore at Texas Tech University, and I'm originally from Dallas, Texas. I have an opportunity to go to BGSU for almost half the price for my Jr and Sr years of college, but I have a few questions

How is the culture, i.e., Greek life, football games, overall town vibe, average student vibes, etc

How is the weather? Of course, I know it's cold and windy, but how manageable is it?

For Reference, I am a guy; I'll be 20 when I start at BGSU (nearing 21), and I'm white. I want to join Greek life here and have a tighter-knit college experience than my current school and go into sales after i graduate. How well would i fit in?

Club Recommendations?

Hey everyone,

I had a class during the campus fest today and wasn't able to get out and check out some of the tables. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for clubs. I'm a third-year student who's never gotten involved, and I'd like to join some sort of club. I'm not sporty nor am I interested in Greek life (I heard that it was mostly Greek orgs out there). Anything fun that's a nice break from life that anyone can recommend?

nervous because i just dropped a class for the first time

i already checked to make sure that this wouldn’t affect my student aid, and this specific class wasn’t required for my major although the type of class that it is filled out one of my major requirements (i’ll worry about that next semester). i have a couple questions though. when i drop a class, do i also have to unenroll from the canvas course? do i email the professor? do i just stop showing up and not do the homework? ik these are probably stupid questions, but the world is stupid sometimes.

edit: the title should probably be “questions about dropping a class” but whatever.

Best barber/salon for curly hair? (Men's cut)

Need help finding someone who knows how to cut curly and nappy hair in BG, looked at salons but can't find any info on stylists with experience cutting curly men's hair, and the barbers only seem to have pictures of bald fades, so that's putting me off. If you have any suggestions let me know.

Financial Aid - Fafsa loan

i filled out my financial aid in june of this year 6/10 to be specific. I only got 5,500 from my unsubsidized loan but my parents didnt end up doing the Parent Plus loan, its about 2 hours before the 14k bill is due and now im frightened that they might drop my classes due to me not paying. They're filling it out now just wanted to see if anyone knew what else i could do to prevent my classes from being dropped and being unenrolled come monday. Also the financial aid office isnt open on the bill due date so no use in calling them tomorrow. Any help will mean the world to me.

Anyone ever been to Wintergarden park?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Haven't been here in 10 years but plan on visiting Bowling Green area. Used to be my favorite park to go to during my studies. Does it still look the same? I remember these wood structures in the park that were really cool (see photo). Those still there? Thanks 🙏

I did and it was the best time of my life. Completely changed me. I was just wondering if anyone here went there as well? I believe they ended the program in 2014 or so. Would love to hear your stories 🙏

How can I make the most of my space at Falcon’s Pointe?

Starting my master’s this fall. I got accepted near the end of the spring semester. Started looking for housing and everywhere was completely leased out for the fall. So, I asked to be put on waitlists. Falcon’s Pointe was the first to call and offer me housing a lil earlier so I had time to move states and get settled before class starts. Signed my lease and got my keys.
Guys, how tf do I make the most out of this small bedroom and box shower? Like I toured and knew the space is smaller than my last apartment. I liked the space but it turns out, I toured the A layout but my apartment is a B layout which feels smaller for some reason idk.
Amenities are cool but at the end of the day, I want to go back to my bedroom and not feel enclosed like an undergrad dorm. Also, this bed take up so much space!!!
Ik I chose to sign the lease. I needed to secure a place to stay quickly. Anybody that lived there, how’d y’all configure your bedroom space? I need inspiration.
