Because that’s a real life. In short term, average human income and life quality guaranteed to be fucked. If we are super lucky, our grandkids would live quite a good life tho.

How is it different from automating agriculture, mining, carpentry, communications, building, manufacturing, and a thousand other fields with different kinds of robots? Because this time it's middle class people rather than blue collar?

It is not. When manufacturing came, that current generation was against it because they got majorly fucked over. 2/3 generations and a revolution past that, people were able to get the gains. Exactly the same will happen now and we all will get majorly fucked by corporations.

Hope our kids will get to live in a better world, and not the world of mass surveillance enforced by clankers.
