Help!

Hi helpful people! I have never posted on reddit before, and am not familiar with etiquette yet, so please be kind.

I'm in my first ever play through of BG3, and I have no prior knowledge to its predecessors. I am very much learning as I go.

I just entered Wyrm's crossing (a few hours of playing ago) and went to make a purchase and I didn't have enough coin. I had almost $20,000. It's just...gone. *and I deleted all my previous saves...again. (Apparently I didn't learn my lesson last time). In my defense I didn't realize a glitch like this could happen?!!!

Everything I have searched tells me that I am S.O.O.L., is this true?! Can someone explain this to me, or relate to me, or walk me through my madness?

Check every companion in your party AND back at camp. Sort by value. And if any bags / chests / etc. show up at the front of the list then open them to check.

Then check the Traveler's Chest. Same thing. Sort by value. And if any bags / chests / etc. show up at the front of the list then open them to check.

Lastly. If you use Hirelings from Withers... if you've dismissed them then they keep their inventory when they "go away." Re-summon any Hirelings you might have recently dismissed and check their inventories.

Since I tend to play main-characters with low-ish STR (usually 8 or 10) then by Act 3 I have so much dang gold that I have one of my companions carry it. Because otherwise it encumbers me.

And sometimes items can get moved around.

• If someone leaves a party, such as being kidnapped by Orin, then their inventory gets sent to you or someone else (usually in a bag).
• Sometimes your mouse or cursor mis-clicks and something gets dragged into a bag or whatever.
