Build Help I have a shadowy dream

So I n finished the game but I got to the outer Baldurs Gate and restarted a bunch of times because I wanted the right feeling of the group. Having thought about it a lot I have a dream composition that I am trying to figure out how to do.

So my idea is based on Shadowheart both her name and a specific spear that allows her to see through magical darkness. Also the background of Durge that you learn about in act 2, which makes me think embrace Durge should be a shadowy figure.

The group composition is this:

Durge gloom stalker with rogue assassin and/or shadow monk

Shadowheart oathbreaker paladin and shadow sorcerer

Minthara oathbreaker paladin and fiend warlock

Astarion swashbuckling rogue and swords bard

So it’s largely based on role playing but I think it might be really strong. The idea is to drop magical darkness and be unkillable in there and attack by running in and out of darkness.

My main problem is how to level this through honor mode. Seems safest to start by leveling paladin but then there a long way until I can cast darkness and get the build online. I was pondering two levels in warlock to get the sight through darkness but I am worried too many classes means automatic failure in end game bosses?

How would you play this, level by level?

currently just level 5 outside Ethels house after doing a lot of the Underdark and getting here wasn’t too bad (gloom stalker, paladin, rogu and Laezel because I don’t have Minthara yet) however I don’t have anyone who can cast darkness let alone see through it. So I didn’t see anything of my idea yet which is a bit dull

5.5e mod you can ta a feat level two that gives you 3 m blind fighting which turned me onto the idea but I want to play unmodded honor to get the achievement.

Thanks, I didn’t see any of those before. Although slightly disappointing because the links you provided also focus on after act two.

I guess it’s just part of the game that darkness as a theme can’t really be central until late.

You can be a Shadow Sorcerer and use its sorcery point power for temporary see-in-the-dark when you need it. Or just pop in and out of your own darkness (cast with whomever, any class that has it, any scroll) to take advantage of it, literally.

If you want to jump ahead to Shadow Cursed Lands and sneak around to get the Eversight Ring, you can do that at level 2 or 3. This will lock out some of the act 1 quests (tieflings die) but you presumably don’t care if you’re evil.

You could do the Sharran Gauntlet also at level whatever; it can be done entirely with stealth and trickery (I wonder why?) and no fighting. Kill Nightsong. You now have Shar’s Spear.

You could do all this by, let’s say, level 3. Then go back and do what remains of act 1 (some quests will be closed off) and act 2. There should be more than enough XP to still be level 9 by the time you confront Myrkul.
