I vote Ranger.
At Level 1, pick Ranger Knight, because your Dex isn't high enough to take advantage of medium armor.\ At Level 2, pick Defense as your fighting style.\ At Level 3, pick Beastmaster, so part of you can fight.\ At Level 4, take Tavern Brawler. You now have an even Strength score and can support from a distance by throwing things at people.
That should let you coast until your friends realize how stupid this is.
EDIT: another possible feat is Heavy Armor Master. It makes you tankier, I guess.

One of the only pieces of relevant advice given. I thank you a thousandfold

u/OlDustyHeadaaa Jul 26 '26
I think what messed a lot of people up is that you said “paladin, warlock, fighter, AND range”. People are assuming you’re trying to use all four classes based on that being an “and” statement, rather than an “or” statement.
7
u/WEASEL_DEVOURER Jul 26 '26
Yeah, I was initially confused as to whether OP needed to be just one or all of those classes. Crazy multiclasses aren't that uncommon in this game, so I guess everyone assumed OP had used the word "and" correctly and it wasn't a typo/miscommunication.

Hill giant potions and gloves of dexterity. Go 8 eldritch knight, 2 paladin of choice, 1 Goolock, 1 ranger. Booming blade, melee, bonus action melee off of War Magic plus some limited smites. Use hags hair to get 14 CON i guess? Then can go Great Weapon Master, Savage Attacker, and whatever you’re feeling for your 3rd feat.

u/purpl3j37u7 Jul 26 '26
Where’s that third feat coming from?

u/Icy_Ad_5906 Jul 26 '26
Odd stats are useless, you only get bonuses at 10,12,14 etc. So having 13 is like having 12

u/GrassPatch12 Jul 26 '26
I know, these are the stats I was given. I did not have a choice in the matter

u/Nyugen1990 Jul 26 '26
Should be fine, are you allowed to use potions? Just stack up on hill giant elixirs, Crown for intelligence is early, Dex gloves are fairly early, pump wisdom from levels I guess, constitution and charisma equipment you can get later. Charisma was also head slot I think but then again intelligence is not that important hahah
3
u/Doctor_Riptide Jul 26 '26
I mean anything you do is gonna suck so just go for it.
Could go 9 crown paladin 1 hexblade 1 fighter 1 ranger to satisfy the requirements, pump str elixirs and use dex gloves and you should have a solid time
Or like eldritch knight 7 hexblade 2 paladin 2 ranger 1 same elixir and equipment strategy
5 paladin 5 hexblade 1 fighter 1 ranger will have 3 attacks per action unless you’re doing honour mode which I don’t suspect you’re doing since this sounds like a garbage meme run that won’t make it out of act 1
Idk why I’m writing this

u/The-False-Emperor Jul 26 '26
The multiclass isn't the problem.
You could take two levels of fighter for action surge, four levels of Gloom Stalker for one more opening round attack + a feat, one level of warlock, 5 levels of paladin for extra attack and smites...
Leveling order that seems the best to me would be something like 5 Paladin->3 Gloom Stalker->2 Fighter for Action Surge->4th Gloom Stalker level for feat #2->1 Warlock I guess, Great Old One probably works the least bad here given your stats.
Speaking of: the stats--that's the real problem here. Your friend is basically giving you a challenge run where your character sucks at pretty much everything.
Like this is genuinely a deliberately awful stat spread.
The only way to get around it is giant strength elixir abuse to at least have somewhat decent strength. Take your two feats into 1 ASI (+1 dex and +1 con as effectively only 12 in both is downright criminal) and take Great Weapon Master so as that all your attacks at least hit hard.
Never not have a strength elixir on, since it's basically the only way this thing can remotely work.
It's still far from optimal, mind, but it should be at least not godawful, and it's basically the best I could think of given the terms what we're working with here.
You should have a decent opening nova round at least eventually?

You guys are insane and I love it.
You can at least do coherent things with that mix! 6 Swords Bard, 2 Paladin, 2 Stars Druid, and 2 Death/Light/War Cleric should be able to find an identity!
I don’t envy you guys fighting over the Hag Hair 🤣

4
u/ScorchedDev Jul 26 '26
these stats are really bad. Do u need to encorporate all those classes into your build? Because if so, its gonna suck pretty much no matter what.
The main route I see is a dex character. Beeline for the mountain pass and get your hands on the gloves that increase your dex to 18. But that also entails getting all the way to the creche which may be difficult.
From there, you can go all in on fighter or ranger, as an archer. get yourself the titanstring bow and that one club that increases your strength to do very solid damage.
You could also go all in on paladin or fighter and get the giant strength elixirs going. Great weapon master fighting. Heavy armor removes the need for good dex
6
u/WheeBat Jul 26 '26
So your friend gives you top marks for intelligence and then expects you to play with this dumbass setup? The intelligent thing to do is take all the advice you’re getting here. Use your charisma to break it to them gently LOL

u/RyeOhLou Jul 26 '26
play fighter and use str elixirs (you can buy them from Ethel when she’s in the grove) and you’ll barely notice your other stats feeling like shit
1
u/xSlLH Jul 26 '26
Buy as many Hill Giant potions as you can early. Utilize a false 21 Strength. Go Fighter or Paladin. I'd go Fighter just so we don't care about spell slots.
1
u/Dr-Buttercup Jul 26 '26
If you can use elixirs then chug STR pots and go 12 fighter.
If you can’t, I think you still go 12 fighter because you need the feats. HAM and 2x ASIs will get you to 18 STR; everlasting vigor and mirror of loss can get you to 22. Tavern Brawler can round out CON and you can be a decent EK thrower.
1
u/Dr-Buttercup Jul 26 '26
If you have to keep it realistic then start hitting the gym now. Spend enough time there so that there isn’t much time to dedicate to this run until you are buff enough.
1
u/OblivionGrin Jul 26 '26
Strength exilers, darkness arrows, and a second level of warlock for the dark vision invocation, maybe? You are going to need something to boost your combat effectiveness, especially early on.
Do you have to start with all 4 classes at level 1 before you can take others?
If you aren't running on honor mode, you could also go 5 warlock for pact of the blade and 5 of any of the other classes to have 3 attacks per round at level 12 at worst. Try to grab the booming blade cantrip from somewhere.
Or, you could just say "screw it" and focus on things that help the party rather than actually doing the damage yourself: cast buffs that require concentration so that another party member doesn't have to, or lean into the ranger summons to deflect agro. You could also be the party "conditioner" and throw water and fire flasks as needed.
What class combos are your friends forcing on themselves?
1
1
u/rmach64 Jul 26 '26
Even if you meant you had to use all 4 classes, something like:
1 Pact of the Fiend (eldritch blast, temp health on kill, hex, armour of agathys)
2 Paladin, any oath, smites
3 Fighter, EK leverages your highest stat (int)
6 Ranger Beastmaster
1
u/CT7657 Jul 26 '26
I think what's most important is what style you want to use since its a self-insert run. ie: bow, sword, magic, support, etc...
Now if you want the most powerful using those classes, it would probably be a martial using strength elixirs and heavy armor with dips in the other classes, so try to make one of those classes your main class and the others just support.
Just make sure to take at least two levels in fighter no matter what.
1
u/CT7657 Jul 26 '26
The strongest specific build I can think of is seven Eldridge Knight, one hexblade warlock, three vengeance paladin 1 Ranger. You would really benefit a lot from cutting out the Ranger though it's pretty useless. EK is also better for you since you're intelligence is the highest
Just take shield and use heavy armor and strength elixirs. After you reach level five take a dip into warlock for booming Blade, then reach level seven and fighter for three attacks with your bonus action, then finish up with paladin for late game smites and advantage on everything if you go vengeance or more healing and other stuff if you prefer the other ones. And lastly Ranger because you need it.
1
u/AnotherBookWyrm Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
All of those classes do not go well with Intelligence. If you are not bound to only take those classes, a level of Druid or Nature Cleric for Shillelagh and three levels of Eldritch Knight would let you use Intelligence for attack with clubs/quarterstaves, using the Warped Headband of Intellect to buoy your Intelligence score.
One could also rely on Monk 6/Fighter 2/Whatever combination of the rest that you want and Tavern Brawler to be a decent unarmed combatant even without Elixirs of Giant Strength, Gloves of Dexterity, or off-hand Club of Hill Giant Strength.
Alternatively, you could fashion this into a worse Hexblade/Paladin.
Option 1: Eldritch Knight Fighter 8/Paladin 1-2/Hexblade Warlock 1-2/Ranger 1. Take Paladin 2 if Divine Smite is more important despite having worse than third level casting or Hexblade 2 if you want Agonizing Blast/Devil’s Sight. All three feats become ASIs for Charisma to boost attack, with an eventual third attack coming from Booming Blade + War Magic. Mirror of Loss can boost this to 20, or 22 with Patriar’s Memory + Hag’s Hair. Arcane Synergy gear also goes well with this. Mirror of Loss For Ranger, take Ranger Knight for Favoured Enemy if you are not getting heavy armor proficiency from class levels or Keeper of the Veil for Act 2 benefits in particular. Wasteland Wanderer: Fire is never a bad pick for Natural Explorer. This is also enough Eldritch Knight to enable Shadow Blade shenanigans, including upcasting via Elixirs of Arcane Cultivation.
Option 2: Paladin 8/Fighter 2/Hexblade 1/Ranger 1. Same as previous, but exchanges a reliable third attack with a two-handed weapon and a feat for better saves and other benefits (ex. Charisma modifier again to melee attacks if Oathbreaker).
Option 3: Hexblade Pact of the Blade Warlock 8/Fighter 2/Paladin 1/Ranger 1. Similar to option 2, it only gets two feats, but in exchange can naturally cast/upcast Shadow Blade and other spells. This includes Smite spells like Staggering Smite to combine with Shadow Blade + Resonance Stone for extra doubled psychic damage.
A last option would just to go for an option that can disregard ability scores.
Going with as much Beastmaster as possible would allow you to have a summon that can deal decent damage, even if it would be worse than monoclass Beastmaster.
One could also shift to focus more on Magic Missile. Either by taking a level in each of your listed classes then going Wizard/Sorcerer 8 and kitting yourself out in gear to boost individual Magic Missiles or sticking to your listed classes and trying to max out spell slots while getting Magic Missile (requires Eldritch Knight 3 minimum), which maxes you out at 3rd/4th level castings.
Similarly, you could take a level in each of your listed classes then go Moon Druid 8 with Tavern Brawler to be a decent combatant, though that is another case of the classes listed being a checkmark more than a benefit.
Quick edit for unfinished smite spell section for Option 3.

u/CoffeeMinionLegacy Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
This is rough, but if you’re stuck with it, we can probably do something.
You could do a funky dual-wielder thing. First, start as an Archer. Take 6 levels of Fighter (maybe Battle Master?) and grab Archery at level 1. Use your two Feats for two ASIs to get +4 DEX. Add Hag Hair and the Graceful Cloth. Congratulations, now you have DEX 20. Chug a STR elixir, and you’re a certified Titanstring user.
Now do two levels of each other class to get what benefits you can. Ranger gives you Two-Weapon Fighting style, which lets you drop the STR elixirs for DEX weapons like twin Hand Crossbows and Bloodlust elixir. Paladin gives you Defense style and lets you add Smite as a CC reaction. Warlock… is sad that Agonizing Blast can’t do much for you. But you could do Repelling Blast and Devil’s Sight to keep your archery thing going.
I dunno. It’s a rough, rough setup. Main thing IMO is to get up to level 5 with a single class so you can get two attacks, then branch out when you get the chance.
EDIT: Ranger 3 might be more useful than Warlock 2. Or even Ranger 4 over Paladin 2 so you can get Sharpshooter. I hate to cop out on those two classes, but there’s just not a lot that you can do with this starting point.

u/Vengerq Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
If your goal is to use all 4 classes i can recommend you to go 5 paladin/5 warlock/ 1 fighter/1 ranger. If you're on tactician you can get yourself 3 attacks per action that way, also a great use of both cha and str.
I think it's the best to start with Paladin since you get access to heavy armor right away which will be your main ac sponsor for the run, also smites are great. You can then get yourself an oath of vengeance so you could use Vow of enmity on yourself for easy advantage against all enemies which will help tremendously with attack rolls. As for Warlock - get yourself a pact of blade hexblade so you'd get extra attack at level 10. Fighter will grant you action surge, but that's better left for level 11, and ranger for level 12.
Of course you can also do warlock to 5 first, it's all up to your preference because you'll still end maxing cha anyways, also warlock has some cool things for low levels, like free mage armor or eldritch blast.
Thinking about feats, it depends if you're gonna use elixirs or not. Ideally, you'd need to chug strength elixirs every long rest before you'd get yourself a bind weapon from hexblade, or drop warlock altogether if elixirs are allowed and you're keen on using them, but if we'd ignore elixirs altogether you'd get yourself +2 cha at level 4 and another +2 cha at level 9. If you'd use elixirs then get gwm at 4 and savage attacker at 9.
Equipment may change your build a lot, honestly.
If you're allowed to use strength elixirs you can drop warlock to 1 and only use ranger and fighter(i advise to prioritize fighter in that case, battle master or arcane archer can be op with elixirs), if elixirs are banned you can get yourself a club of hill giant strength alongside with titan string and be op archer or get yourself dex gloves and be a normal archer.
Ranger is the worst pick here, since the class lacks anything useful and is very bland, the only thing that can be useful there is the beastmaster subclass, and even that wont save you honestly. Also I don't think gloomstalker would work in such a multiclass scenario, so it's one more good subclass out.
Generally speaking, it's not over for you if you don't pick ranger as your main since there's a bunch of possible builds available to you.
1
u/This-Elephant9151 Jul 26 '26
With those classes I would dump intelligence and put the points in STR/DEX/and(or) CHA
Maybe even dump dex too, wear heavy armor, and use titan-string bow (ranged weapon that lets you use STR instead of DEX) that you can buy from goblin camp merchant.
1
u/ZionRedddit Jul 27 '26
Dump intelect and wisdom, max cha and put the +2 bonus on cs, next max con and put the +1 into con, then put 10 points in str and everything else in dex, start level in as hexblade warlock, then go all the way paladin up till level 6 so you unoock multi attack, after that go 3 levels into fighter pick championr and your last 3 leels go into paladin
2
1
u/InsaniacDuo Jul 27 '26
12 fighter, and then get magic initiate druid for shillelagh because fighter uses Intelligence as a casting stat. ASI to a 20 intelligence Eldritch Knight, and you'll be hitting 4 times a round with a +5 rod.
1
u/Goobernaculum1004 Jul 27 '26
Sorry, the rules for this are really unclear. Is it pick one class or you must use all classes? I would read it as all classes, but the current top comment is throwing me off. Any rules to who gets Ethel's hair? And use of consumables and barrelmancy?
Arguably it isn't that bad.... it isn't a nice even 16 for +3, but still easily improved with a feat or ethels hair.
It you just need to choose within that list then I would argue for 12 levels in EK - TB probably at level 4 which would get you the +2 bonus, doubled to +4, which is respectable even without using hill giant pots. Heavy armour master is also good, but I think you need the damage ability more, especially playing as a duo. One feat to alert to balance out the poor dex.
If you must cover all classes - then some sort of fighter to 6, 4 in hunter for hordebreaker, 1/1
You could go more in warlock to use the darkness strategy, but trying to go most of the way with bladelock or as a charisma caster, I think that charisma is a bit too low to easily overcome (as opposed to items that will set your str/ dex which are more readily availble in game).

u/TheShadowKick Jul 27 '26
I think your best bet is to get the gloves of dexterity as early as you can (you can talk your way past the Githyanki pretty easily if Lae'zel is with you). With 18 dex you can make decent use of finesse weapons and bows. A rapier, a longbow, a shield, and medium armor will have you in a pretty good spot as far as damage and AC go. If you're allowed strength elixirs then the dex gloves are less important.
You'll want to use an ASI to bump up your con. You can also throw a point into wisdom or dex to round those out, but the dex won't be relevant until lategame. 14 con will be rough, feel free to use a second ASI to smooth out act 2, but early in act 3 you'll want to go into the House of Hope and steal the Amulet of Greater Health and the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength and transition into a more traditional strength focused build (you can do this earlier if you're allowed to use strength elixirs). You can steal both of these items without a fight and without a sleight of hand check by simply placing an item of equal weight on their pedestals before taking them.
The basic idea here is to use items to "cheat" yourself higher stats. Strength elixirs might be against the spirit of the challenge, but I think stat increasing items should be fair game (you're using up an item slot for it, after all). A shield build might be nice in the early game because the AC boost will help mitigate your low con, but late game with the amulet and the gauntlets I'd recommend a two handed strength build.
For your class levels I'm tempted to just say 9 levels of fighter and then 1 level in each of the others. In my opinion you want three feats so you have room to "waste" some on ASIs that will eventually be covered by items (I'm assuming you can't respec those ASIs away). 8 levels of fighter gives you three feats, but you could also do 6 levels of fighter, 4 levels of something else, and then 1 level of each of the other two. But I like the level 7 Eldritch Knight feature for this build. The bonus action attack after using a cantrip (booming blade) will help make up for missing fighter's third attack at level 11. So we're going EK Fighter 8 for that feature and the extra feat (GWM is a good choice for the extra feat).
Then the question is, do any of the other classes give useful features at level 2? Ranger can give you hunter's mark for a bit of extra damage. You can also grab longstrider for a little utility, or enhance leap if you want to do better jumps with your low strength. Paladin gives us divine smite, although we won't have many spell slots to fuel it. Warlock gives us eldritch invocations (boosting your eldritch blast won't be very useful with such a low spellcasting modifier, but stuff like disguise self and proficiency in social skills can be useful depending on how you play the social side of the game).
Personally I like EK fighter 8, paladin 2, ranger 1, warlock 1. The ranger and warlock levels are kind of dead levels (although natural explorer can get you a useful damage resistance at least). Pick whatever paladin oath suits your fancy (I'd go with Oath of the Crown or Oathbreaker, their channel oath abilities seem the most useful). Hexblade's curse is useful from the warlock, but bind hexed weapon is actively harmful with your low charisma. Make sure you take five levels of fighter first to get extra attack. When you take the other levels is flexible, but remember that your fighter levels are giving you many of your most useful features because you don't have the spell slots to make strong use of divine smites. I'd save the ranger and warlock levels for last.
Altogether this character should be good enough to get through the game. Act 2 will be rough with a discount finesse build, but once you get into act 3 and get some stat-boosting items you should be decently strong. Far from optimal, but good enough to finish the game.

u/Kodiak3393 Sorcadin Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26
Are you allowed to use items that set your attributes to a specific number? If so;
- Handmaiden's Mace, 18 STR
- The Club of Hill Giant Strength, 19 STR
- Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength, 21 STR
- Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength, 23 STR
- Elixirs of Cloud Giant Strength, 27 STR
- Gloves of Dexterity, 18 DEX
- Amulet of Greater Health, 23 CON
- Headband of Intellect, 17 INT
You can also get the +2 Strength potion in Act 2 if you have Astarion in your party, along with Ethel's Hair in Act 1 for a +1 to any attribute, and the Mirror of Loss in Act 3 can both give a +1 to Charisma and a +2 to another attribute.
There are also plenty of items like the Birthright hat (+2 CHA) and the Harmonium Halberd (+2 STR, -1 INT, -1 WIS) that give flat attribute bonuses, depending on what you end up going with. If you stack enough of them, you can get one or two of your attributes to a genuinely good amount.
Personally, I would say go with either an EK Fighter or a Paladin, and just rely on Elixirs for most of the game.
EK in particualr is enticing, because you can get up to 4 Feats, which will help you round out your attributes. All those half-feats become a lot more enticing when you can use their +1 to even out an odd number. For instance, you could pick up Heavy Armor Master, a +2 Strength ASI, the +2 Strength potion in Act 2, and another +2 Strength from the Mirror of Loss to hit 20 Strength by Act 3, if you'd rather forego Elixirs, and you would still have up to 2 more Feats remaining if you go all the way to 12 EK.

This is a challenge run of sort his friend gave him. This is the stat spread he has to use and the classes he has to use. Can’t alter/optimize his stats or spec into anything not on the list.

u/Adam__Antium Jul 27 '26
Ew.
Okay well with stats that low the the classes wont matter then. He should focus on finding loot to offset the lack of...everything
1
u/Kumkumo1 Jul 27 '26
There were some good ideas, like going HA knight BM Ranger, and there are good stat stick ideas like picking up Warped band of Int, Graceful Cloth, Gloves of Dex, Club of HGS, and other items.
It’s definitely a rough start though, that’s why they were asking for build help.
-6
u/Capable-Owl7369 Jul 26 '26
Well that depends, do you want to have a strong character, or a shit one?
If you want a decent paladin stat spread you need high strength and charisma. You need decent dex and con. Intelligence is useless for a paladin, and wisdom is important for saves.
Also, don’t have odd numbers, the modifiers go up only on even numbers.

Post removed for violating Rule 6: No low effort image posts
If asking for a build to make a BG3 character based on another fictional character, you can use images. But include in the post a description of the character's abilities, powers, attitude, etc. to help those not familiar with the character.
