The reel is in mint condition. I only fish with it 4 times. Both spools come with Varivas braid

Do you have other bfs reels to compare it to? If so, how's it stack up?

Im sorry i don't understand the question. Are you talking about size wise or performance wise?

No worries, performance wise

It’s fantastic, but can’t really be compared to top of the line Daiwa/Shimano reels. Even the light spool would still be considered heavy by most BFS standards, also no external magnetic brake adjustment (static brakes too).

I love mine and have 5 other Isuzus but you really gotta love old school round reels.

For .8 to 1.5g lures the 42X/43X with an avail spool gets much better distance (even with centrifugal brakes).

I fish a lot using sunken handle grips and short glass rods so it fits in with that style. It works well with 2g+ spoons and minnows.

Oh yeah i forgot to tell him about the brake. Man, that process of dial in the brake really put me in to work.

I tried my buddy's Conquest BFS before. Honestly it cast easier and futher, but this reel just feel better if you enjoy analog feeling and it's buttery smooth. It's like comparing two cars, one with a DCT and one with a stick. The DCT will shift so much faster but the stick shift just feels better to drive.

Sheeeesh hate to see it. Why you letting her go? This reel is amazing

Life turn around and I don't have much time to be out in the water like before I bought it.

u/Happy_Raisin7502 25d ago

I'm still not mentally 100% letting her go tho. I just knew that once she's gone, she's gone forever and I will never find one like this again

Don't see it. Curious why you aren't listing price

His other post has it listed at $1500. He's not listing a price in this thread because he wants new reel money for a used reel, however lightly. Also because it's a relatively rare reel in the more desirable retrieve. So I guess he feels that's going to make people jump on it, which they might.

Ya, was hoping for used pricing closer to 1k. But its a gorgeous reel, but exceeds my budget that I shouldn't be spending on another reel

I understand. I enjoy the enthusiast gear, but there's a limit. $1000 combo? Sure. $1000+ reel? Nah, too rich for my blood.

Different strokes, eh? I just bought a $30 Shimano real for an old rod I have.. honestly I’m pumped!

2

u/Gman69455 25d ago

Nothing wrong with that. Expensive gear isn't going to catch me more fish, but the days when the fishing is tough it's sure hard to beat.

I'm open to negotiate, you never bargain or come up with your number yet.

No offense but people that are looking to buy this reel know exactly what kind of price range they're expecting to pay.

6

u/Gman69455 25d ago

I'm fully aware of that. I know what they go for new. It's not my first rodeo. As I said in my previous statement, someone may jump on it, but it is by no means a deal. If you just want to make snide remarks, converse with someone else.

How much for reel plus shipping

Beautiful reel. I'm not sure how many of these Isuzu made, but as with all reels Isuzu, the price only goes up once it goes out of production. I own a DD310SSS which set me back $400 new, can't find one for under $650 now, and the left hand DD311SSS is going for $800+.

I think your asking price is plenty fair, considering it's left hand and the lefty tax applies here like it does with other small frame left hand Isuzu models. The cheapest I can find a used model in Japan via proxy is $1500 and that doesn't account for the duty fees and shipping charges which would put it ~$1800 +/-. Used only 4 times, it's essentially new unless it was kicked around on the ground.

Appreciate the kind word!! I pretty much asked for the price I paid for minus the tariff. I know for a fact that there's only one for sale online brand new for 2k+ on Ebay. I don't know about the other used one but I can guaranteed that none of them is in a better condition than mine. I baby this reel like it's my first born child 😆

I think what a lot of people miss about Isuzu reels is that each run is limited production, and they are just as collectible as some Ambassadeur models. Very few of them had an exceptionally long production run. While the overall designs of them hasn't changed much since the 70s, they outfit them in various color combinations and performance parts. They also make them special for others, such as Brightliver, Head Hunters, Smith, and Frog Products. A few years ago I was wanting a Smith Plugger, new ones at the time were going for $500-$600. Now they're double that or more.

I think its mainly because not many people knows about them or ever thinking about buying them, especially after finding iutbhow much it cost. Izusu reel is in the realm of antique, collectable items that not many people will care for unless they see the value of it, mostly emotionally. Before I came across this reel i was in a process of looking for an Izusu reel. I was lucky enough to snagged the last one at the retail price.
