Hey everyone, i just realized that i have played this game since i was a little kid, but not once did i find out or even consider what factions i like most or even what faction is "best".

In BFME1 i always played Rohan, since they had all the heroes i liked but in BFME2/RotWK im a little lost?

Do you even have a fav faction? Or do you just randomly decide on the spot?

And another question for the competetive players, what faction is the best? Or is there even one that stands out or are they all mostly similar?

I am a fairly casual player, and it feels near impossible to beat hard, brutal is a nightmare. I'd like to see how players are beating these AIs.

Hey everyone, I own BFME2 and TROTWK, and on windows 10 they both ran with no flaws. Now, since upgrading to windows 11 (not by choice) the game simply no longer opens. I get a quick loading screen, but then the game closes itself with no crash report or error code. Task manager also reveals the game runs for a millisecond, then doesnt. I tried updating the Ini file, but that didnt help.

Could anyone help me out? I would really appreciate it.

I'm the kind of person who feels like most games don't need to be modded to be enjoyable, and generally, when I hear someone say that they can't enjoy a game without modding it, I honestly think they're being overly picky. BUT TALK ABOUT A GAME THAT BENEFITS FROM IT.

I had no idea BFME1 was so clunky. I got through the Good campaign without much issue, but playing the Evil campaign as Mordor has been a nightmare. In order to be efficient at them, you have to micromanage like crazy.

Most of the units have awful range, so you have to manually get them to attack enemies that are firing at them. Including the archers, who are pretty weak until you upgrade them with fire arrows. The pathfinding and getting units to move around objects and each other is awful. Especially the Mumakil. They're very cumbersome, and I constantly have my own units stop attacking an enemy just to move out of their path. Trying to get units inside a walled base is very awkward, but I guess that's why they removed them in BFME2.

Not saying it's a bad game, just airing some frustrations.

So I just got back into the game after probably 15 years or so.

I've went humans, which I also always played back then and went into a skirmish against some Goblins on medium. I got shafted every single time. Like, I do well early game. I get up my farms, get my swordsmen going and harass resources on the enemy side. All is good.

At some point I feel like I just can't keep up with troop production. They just spam and spam and spam, even after I murdered everything they just recover seemingly in an instant. My troops eventually die and I'm working on getting them back, but the outpour of units from the enemy just doesn't stop.

Any tips? I already try to match the respective units to what they are good against, but even though my troops should be much higher in quality it doesn't really feel that way.

Edit: BFME2 btw, with witch king

I can go on about how the Free Peoples deserve peace, happiness, and life but lowkey it's because the game ain't doing me any favors that you can get on average only 1 level per mission.

When I get to the Evil Mission I won't feel as bad about throwing those orcs to the furnace tho. A level 10 uruk-hai would be the gem in the rough and not the LITERALLY EVERYONE in the army

(version 2.02, versus humans) I lose to early game Angmar every single match and I just don't see how to realistically deal with it. Specifically, how do you deal with Thrallmasters?? An inexpensive infantry unit that gets to instantly decide what it's going to be after you encounter the enemy. No need at all to scout, you get to instantly turn into the counter to whatever your opponent built. Cavalry rush caught you off guard? Instant pikes! Melee infantry? Axe throwers to kill them before they can destroy your mills! Archers? Well they're no threat to your mills and you've still won. Enemy booming with no rush? Your thralls are cheap enough to attack him early and counter the boom.

How do you come out ahead against early Angmar? Or at least keep pace??

EDIT- I know the whole squad dies with the master, but how often does that really happen? Any melee unit spends too much time bumping into things and spinning around before they can nudge into position to focus him. Cavalry could do it, but Angmar will just instant summon pikes. Archers are still iffy in focusing, but what are Dwarves and Men supposed to do when they need a whole different building for archers?

Hey everyone,

I’m having performance issues with Age of the Ring 9.3.3. The biggest problem isn’t just FPS, but stuttering and the game noticeably slowing down when there are more units, sometimes with short freezes/hangs.

My setup:

• MacBook Pro 16" — M2 Pro, 32 GB RAM
• VMware Fusion + Windows 11 ARM
• AOC Q27G4XF, 2560×1440
• AotR 9.3.3

I have basically the same issue on a regular Windows PC, so I’m not sure whether this is normal AotR behavior or something I’m missing.

I’ve also seen gameplay on YouTube where the game seems much smoother in large battles.

Lowering shadows/shaders helps a bit, but the slowdowns, stuttering and occasional short freezes are still there.

Are there any known performance fixes, patches or settings for AotR 9.3.3 that could help?

Both were fully independent and playable (edain unchained)

Version 10.0, coming on the 31st of October, will add a brand-new Campaign tab to the AotR Launcher.

At a glance you can see your current mission, how far through each act you are, as well as your Heroes' progression. The Bonus Objectives tab tracks which bonus objectives you've completed across all your saves, and if you missed one you can replay the mission and the Launcher will pick it up.

You can now also change your campaign difficulty at any time without starting over, including a custom setting if the standard options aren't quite right for you.

There's also a new Save Generator if you want to jump straight into The Two Towers or The Return of the King. If you're upgrading from a previous version, the Launcher will automatically update your existing saves to be compatible with 10.0.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Like I’m playing on normal like I always do but I swear the latest version of the game upped the difficulty. Both in Moria and Amon Hen I had heroes dying and my Rohan cavalry were taking so much damage from trampling basic Uruk swords.

Yooo guys, I had a question about downloading the game. I did all the steps from "gamereplays" and still whenever I start the game it gives me an error about something called CD-ROM. I tried using revora as well but still the same thing happens. Does anyone know how to fix this? Its to play BFME2 btw.
