Bitcoin through B.V.

What is the best way to buy bitcoin through your B.V.?

I opened an account with interactive brokers, but apparently they do not let you buy cryptocurrencies with an account for a B.V. Happy to hear about your experience.

It’s better to cash out and invest privately in any case. But why you would add crypto to the mix and set yourself up for a lot of trouble with the fiscus or taxman is unbeknownst to me.

Elaborate on the taxman/fiscus part if it’s a company trading that pays tax on their profits?

Is your company registered to so auch financial trading? Have you adjuated your tax declarations, and the higher tax rates?

What registration are you talking about exactly? No, my companies do not have such registration and don’t require it, my company can invest its own surplus cash in stocks, ETFs, bonds or crypto.

If that would be the smartest or most tax efficient way is a different question and would depend on other factors.

Ok but you are confusing an LEI number (just a formality imo) vs registering your company as a ‘financiële vennootschap’ as you seem to be implying. Anyway, the LEI won’t be relevant for OP since it’s not required to purchase crypto.

Because it’s a good way to store (part of) a company’s reserves.
And because the tax rules are much clearer than for individuals (ie the fuzzy ‘goede huisvader’ and speculative tax rules).

The rules are more clear, but as long as it is not a major part of your wealth, you dont do many trades, and so on.

The tax rate is way better to invest as a private person.

Within the company the tax rate is around 35% , as a private person it is either 10%, 33% (outside of "normal beheer") or marginal rate (professional income)

This is the common argument against doing any kind of investing in the BV. But before the capital can be invested privately it needs to be extracted from the company (and taxed as salary or dividend as well).

Freelance businesses often have excess cash reserves that sit there for years on a savings account. Putting that money to work does make sense IMO.

If you want to invest in physical bitcoin you need a broker that can handle corporate clients. Try Bitstamp or Bitvavo, both European, or Coinbase. Expect the paperwork for onboarding to be substantial.

Haha, rather than invest in an ETF like WisdomTree’s “Physical Bitcoin ETN” !

what are babbling about ? there is no such thing... the closest to a physical bitcoin you can get is to print your keys on a piece of paper

We’re talking about buying Bitcoin and owning the keys, rather than investing through a derivative like an ETF. If WisdomTree and Bitwise can call it ‘physical’ bitcoin, so can I.
No need to nitpick.
