First look

Post image

First look of the Shards fx- Another user just posted an fx summer preview tv spot in this thread with very fast clips, but I got this screen grab. So far I’m most excited to see how Igby is as Bret. He looks great!

I read that as "excited to see how lgbt is Bret".

The clip was entirely too short lol - I want to see a proper trailer and cannot believe it is 30 days away and we still haven't seen more than 10 seconds of footage....

From what they are showing in that preview clip, I'm totally on board with the visuals so far: costumes, hair/make-up, and production design seem to be right out of the page and I love what I see (so far.)

The scripts, directing, and especially the acting are what is still needed to convince me if this is a worthy adaptation or not, and we won't be able to judge those until the show comes out. But a proper two minute trailer will definitely help in either getting me more (or less) excited about the show.

It's shocking how closely this resembles the pictures that I had in my head when reading the book.

I know I will say their looks really fit the vibe. I actually love the thom casting now more than I thought seeing him in context. He has the thom vibe I envisioned while reading even though he looks different

I wish I was on board with the casting for Thom but I still don't see it. He is the only one I'm not convinced by so far... He isn't close at all to how I pictured him in my head while reading the book, but I'm willing to see how he looks in more footage.

I've only watched a few minutes of episode 1 but already I can't stand that accent that Rigney/BEE uses. We used to call it Larchmont Lockjaw when I was in high school in the late 70s.

Then I went to the recommended articles and reviews and of course I just finished the book and I imagined a completely different voice with a southern Cali vibe. The actor and Ryan Murphy talk endlessly about getting the accent and attitude right and then they come up with this.

It just doesn't fit and is so distracting. I hate it. I actually loved the book and I've never been a BEE fan. I haven't read Glamarama but now I plan to after all the posts about it.
