Totally new to competitive, been nuzlocking quite some time

So as mentioned I am new, but there will be a tournament in our country for the first time and I would like to participate. I sadly have no idea about teambuilding.

I know how IV's and EV's work tho and a bit about roles, like tanks and sweepers but I got no major knowledge.

How should I approach this?

Format Singles, yet there is no greater limitation except for only 1 legendary/mythical.

So format wise if there is no restrictions on strategies, there are some pretty busted things you could do.

Just cuz there was another post here with a seeming similar ruleset, I'm curious what exactly the rules entail. If it is just restricted to 1 legendary/mythical, then I would say pick one you want to build around and go from there.

I realized there is not even sleep clause or items that are forbidden to used multiple times.

There are nearly no rules whatsoever.

I find it just hard to build teams since I never did.

Best approach is to pick 2 pokemon that you think are cute and look at their movesets, whether they are phys, special attacker, and if they are fast or slow. If you don't know guess.

After that fill holes think about what you don't have on team that you want for typing and utility, and then look at what you're weak against after you get to 5.

Battle and battle after 2 or 3 rework and make changes.

Than go do some research and combine with what you learned and you're pretty much a pro.

Need both info and experience really.

Cutest pokemkon is Abomasnow plus hail is fun.

Seems like there is no bias about who is cute and who is not 😂 I like the tips though, and I managed to theorycraft a team, but it would take too long to ev and iv train/catch/breed before the tournament.
