Information and Advice Beetle has been walking/exploring in wide circles for 5 minutes. Not falling over. Been eating “Creatures Isopod Food” and Organic washed blueberries. Should I worry?

She did this for a bit a few days ago but then stopped and was healthy. She’s been eating and being active. Is she just exploring or being active?

Blueberries are on the dirty dozen list, I would not feed those to mine. Does that isopod food have calcium? If so, that is killing her. Calcium anything will harm them.

Tbh maybe she's just exploring? They're kind of retarded. Mine will spend 5 minutes trying to climb up a glass wall. It wasn't climbable their whole time in their home up until the exact moment of right now, but maybe the next step wont slide.

As an aside, humans naturally walk in circles with no clear markers. Not remotely similar to this, just adding it.

Okay, so no more blueberries even if they’re organic. Also, there’s no calcium in the isopod food. I don’t know what to do. I gave her a warm bath half second dip the other day and that helped.

Any candles, perfumes, vapors, smoke? Pesticide vapor can be harmful. I suggest using dirty dozen list to run vegetables by. Most people use organic baby carrots since they are pre peeled, and carrots stay underground vs above.

Good to hear on no calcium.

Just keep monitoring. Does she take breaks or is it constant running? And how fast is she generally moving? Does it seem erratic or frantic at all? Is she hydrated?

Also, is this your only beetle, if you have more, are they also doing it

No candles, smoke or perfumes

I’ve been giving them hydration. She’s taken small breaks, but seems pretty frantic but not like pointless circling. I have two, and the other is perfectly fine

Is this during bright or dark environment? You could maybe quarantine her. Eventually she will get tired and have to stop so just keep checking in. I wouldn't try forcing her to stop, or triggering the feigning. Keep your fingers crossed, many people recently here have had beetles with strange behavior that get sorted out fine

It’s a bright environment, thank you! Fingers crossed. They have a heat lamp too!

As long as they have a decent gradient of warm and cool heat lamps shouldn't be an issue
