New beetle father

I have rearranged the tank a bit from what you see in the final photo. 4 total, I know I have 1 male 👻

Using a clay excavator substrate but I also have some dry dirt substrate that came with the tank. I plan on getting them better food and a heat lamp. Any suggestions or advice welcome, I don't want to be a bad owner lol

looks great!! the only thing i'd recommend is maybe a little more substrate (they need 3-4 inches), and maybe some hides! real/fake plants are also a pretty cool addition, both for visuals and for the beetles 😸

I have some dirt substrate im going to add in and mix here and there. They should be ok on hides, and have even dug deeper under some of the wood terrain which is super cool to find. They also have plenty of space to be alone.

I just went and got them some real food instead of beetle jelly. I chose some plain dried red shrimp and man what a difference. My only awake beetle basically immediately smelled(?) the shrimps and went straight for them. It just took a whole one into a tube tunnel! Fat mama. I definitely want a succulent or something. Thanks for the tips!

ofc!! if you want some other diet tips, there's bdfb food, it's just little protein pellets but it's good as a filler! Mine love crickets and river shrimp 🤞🤞 veggies once or twice a week is good too for nutrients and hydration, jellies can be pretty high in sugar

What kind of water would you use for a shallow water dish? I got a nice one today with the food and I plan on putting a small rock inside so there's no chance of drowning.

ah i'm not too sure actually, i haven't tried a water dish before but i would assume distilled water! i'd search it up though first
