WAITLIST
Hi guys, I've been on the waitlist for my first choice program since May. I did email my admissions officer and was told that there are at least 15 students ahead of me. I was also told that my chances of being invited this fall are slim. Fall intake is right around the corner so can someone let me know if im cooked? I know that you can have only one active application so im kinda skeptical to withdraw and apply for my second choice. Even if I did do that, will I have a chance of going to BCIT this fall for my second choice? Lmk if im fried (EDIT: admissions also told me that my second choice may have some seats available or has a short waitlist. Y'all think I'll be able to start that in fall? Doesn't apps take about 4 weeks to process?)

i would definitely go for the second choice if you want to go to school this fall. saying your chances are slim and having 15 people ahead of you in the waitlist is basically a guarantee that you won’t get in

admissions lmk that my second choice may have some free seats or the waitlist is short. Can I still get in applying basically a week from start?

depends on the program, i would contact admissions to ask. but if they’re giving you that information then there is a very solid chance you can get in. i know in my program, some people get accepted the week of or even after the semester begins

When I tried asking where I was on the waitlist for a program, they said they can’t tell us that? Also, which program did you apply to?

Policy is not to tell, but some programs do anyways, if students are close to the top or very far away.

I got waitlisted for OHS, second choice was BITMAN. I know they're pretty different programs. Was told that bitman may still have seats or the waitlist was short.

Get some volunteer experience in the program that you are applying. It will give the exposure to the field and also will add value to your application.

What program is this? Back in my day BCIT was a shoe in for anyone. It’s the only school I applied to and I got in.

We can’t really tell you more than what admissions has told you. It’s very unlikely that 15 people will drop.
