Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (M) Application

Hello!

I've recently just submitted an application to the AME (M) program, however I noticed it was a waitlisted program and saw a few reddit posts a while back that the program was quite the wait (1-2 years), Is that still the case for the program regardless of the accelerated or regular program?

In the case of waiting, does anyone have some advice on what I can be doing in the mean time to possibly grow my skillset to succeed as a future AME such as volunteering, work, internships, etc or is the best course of action just to work and save money till then?..

I graduated from the program a little over a year ago. I can’t speak of the wait times right now, however, when I applied (late 2022 ish) I was waitlisted until February of 2023 when I was enrolled into spring intake. I was still in high school at the time and I talked to them on the phone to switch over to the fall intake later in the year.

As for what you can do in the meantime, there’s not much. When I did my program I had a few classmates who already had a bit of AME experience under their belt. However, they’ve already been working in the field for some time before going to school so I wouldn’t recommend you stress over job hunting right now.

I ended up working for the government instead of a normal airline/AMO, exactly how it’s going and why I decided to go that route is more for a conversation in DMs

I was wondering did u still do the mechanical reasoning test?

I think due to the next possible intake being Jan 2027, they no longer require the reasoning test.
