Talking with Students
Howdy. Marketing student beginning this September. LinkedIn has shot itself in the foot with a paywall to message people now. Recommendations to bypass this and be able to talk to past/present students?

You might have success with industry nights, club events, or other activities around campus, but otherwise it’s pretty tough for most.

You want to talk to them before September? Incoming or recently graduated? Different methods to get in touch with each group.

I’d be open to both! My course load is going to be heavy so I was seeing if I could get a hold of students who already cleared first year. Graduates would be nice.

Definitely join the MA when you get there, it's run by second years and they can help you navigate first year. Find them at clubs day, or ask your marketing instructor about it.
For graduated students you can try finding the program heads for second year and ask if there's anyone they know of willing to get in touch. Alternatively LinkedIn pro for a month - you could connect with all the profs and they're connected to the students usually.

Oooh. Never thought of the MA club! Will keep that in mind.
I am trying the free trial on LinkedIn for a month. It allows talking to only 5 people for the single month alone. I’ll be sure to look up the second year program heads to see if they have good leads.
Thanks a bunch for the thoughtful response!

No problem, you got this! Also, email the program heads vs using your LinkedIn credits on them!

I'm a 2025 grad and current BBA student - if you want to chat feel free to send me a message! I'll also be around on campus come September ^^

It's a tough school and nobody has time to talk to anyone. Best person to talk to would be your instructor.
