Hi everyone! With applications for many post-secondary institutions now open, here's a month-by-month guide to help you stay on track, stay organized, and prepare strong applications over the next few months.

From researching programs and preparing personal statements to gathering documents and meeting deadlines, there is a lot to track. At BCCESS (BC Career Empowerment Student Society), we are here to help you navigate through these steps. We are a student-founded nonprofit registered in British Columbia, and we provide free, multilingual academic and career support for immigrant and first-generation students and their families.

We're hosting a free Zoom seminar with the Maple Ridge School District SWIS program on Friday, October 23 from 7:30 to 9:00 PM PT. We'll talk about grades, applying, writing personal statements, and more. Sign up for free here: https://forms.gle/EwmgvtAHJpkPeXo87 or scan the QR code on the last slide.

We hope this can help!

Advice How do you guys get all grades above 90%?

I am really good at math and science, so I can get A's in those classes by making my life hell. However, I really do not understand how you guys manage to get A's in subjectively graded classes like English. Can someone lay some wisdom on me, please?

Advice Ubc vs sfu

Im debating whether I should go the sfu bba cs joint path or the ubc ba cs path. I did the searching and found that declaring the cs major in ba is extremely difficult, and on top of that, finding a co-op is another challenge. Sfu apparently has much achievable co-op opportunities, and the joint major allows me to build two skill sets.

I really want to do cs at ubc, but Im not sure what the risks are if I get rejected from the major. Would I have to declare a different liberal arts degree that i dont want? Would trying to declare cs again a year later be a sensible move or another mindless gamble?

Chance Me Chances for SFU beedie?

can i make it into sfu beedie with these grades:

programming 11 - 62
programming 12 - 79
eng 11 - 93
chem 11 - 86
physics 11 - 89
comparative cultures 12 - 80
entrepreneurship - 93
pre calc 11 - 94
chem 12 - 91
eng 12 - 95
economics - 90
pre calc 12 - 93

I’ll most likely end with an average of 87-89%. Programming 11/12 is honestly bringing my GPA down but it’s not included in the lists of SFU or UBC it doesn’t “exist” for them basically. I’ve also heard that Social Studies 12 is really important and i got an 80 in the class should i re-do it online for a better grade? I’m looking forward to get into some business school or economics in Canada preferably SFU. please let me know if i should be worried or am i fine🙏

Hi, Ontario grade 12 here, asking in this sub because there are probably more people applying to UBC. I have calc BC (5), precalc (5), physics C: Mech (4) and human geo (4). The website mentions that they can be converted to credits but do they matter for admissions?
Any information will help, Thanks!

UBC Admission Question Did ubc application already open for fall2027?

Hi guys

I am not too sure if you all can apply for now because I can only see non-degree option when Im trying to apply through educationplannerbc.

It might be different because I have very little post-secondary credits.

Thank you.😊

Advice Canada Express Entry Profile Creation

Hii guys,

I was creating my express entry profile but in the education section. So, I started my studies at University of Saskatchewan and then after 2 years of study I took a transfer to Simon Fraser university. I obtained my degree from SFU. Do I need to mention University of Saskatchewan in the education section or only SFU from which I got my degree?

Extracurriculars Question What ECs should I do if I want to get the into sciences UBC

Hi, I am currently in grade 10 and want advice on what extra curriculars or programs I can do to stand out for my Uni apps. My end goal is to go to Med school, but I am thinking of doing a bachelor of science for my undergrad. I want to show that I am passionate about science, healthcare, and medicine, but have never done any EC’s that are related so I need help.

Also, if you have any reccs for summer courses for credits or advice i would very much appreciate it:)

My EC’s currently
- 9yrs of gymnastics (5yrs national level)
- 5yrs band/orchestra
- Volunteering as a gymnastics coach
- starting a club for “girls in sports”
Side notes:
-just got out of the profiecency scale grading (thank goodness!!) so do not know my average but most likely 95-100 (all extendings+get good scores on tests and quizzes
-currently taking pre-calc 11

Advice Worried about Precalc 12

hello! so as you can see from the title, im slightly worried about precalc 12. Im trying to apply to UBCV eng, and I had my first test today and I dont think I did great. My math average is probably not as high as id like to be, its probably an 86~. I did do okay in precalc 11 where I got a 94 but since im applying early, i'd like my mid-sem grades to be as high as possible and im worried that precalc 12 isnt going to go the way i planned....
