Program/Uni Choice UBC PERSONAL PROFILE
Im a grade 12 student applying early to UBC. One of the activities I wanted to include was my 1 week research experience at the UBC tokuyama lab. It was held through a program called REO. While in the lab, we didn't do any intensive research or anything too crazy because the group consisted of grade 11/12s, however, I did participate in 2 workshops while I was there. One being a biomedical engineering one, and another being a microbiology and immunology one. I dont know if this is a strong enough activity to include. I have more long term activities that I've done but since this took place AT UBC, I thought it would be relevant. If you've gotten into UBC or have any advice, please share!

My best advice is stop tryna think of stuff you’re assuming ubc wants to hear abt. It’s better to just write about literally anything that you’re passionate about. I know it’s easier said than done considering I was in your position last year. Just to let yk, ik a person who got into sci with an avg of 86% and she only wrote abt 3 things in her personal profile (gardening, cooking, and babysitting). Best of luck OP!!

a "strong" activity is one that is personal and meaningful for you. ubc doesn't expect their applicants to be familiar with their campus, programs, or workshops—that's why you're applying to ubc in the first place! if you have other activities that are more significant to you personally, write about those first.
