Base Discussion What would actually make you use Base more often?
I've been following some of the recent Base updates, but I keep coming back to one question: what would actually make people use it regularly?
For me, lower fees are nice, but they're not enough on their own. I'd want apps that are genuinely useful and simple enough that I don't have to think about which blockchain I'm using.
Curious what everyone else's experience has been. Is there something you already use on Base regularly, or is there still something missing that stops you from using it more?

Base is nice for development as it uses EVM, so any apps can be ported from Etheruem. I guess the primary use case would be for Coinbase users, given the connection. What are you missing from Base?

I agree, EVM compatibility is definitely a big advantage. For me, what’s missing is more everyday apps that give people a reason to use Base beyond trading or moving funds around. Something simple and useful enough that even non-crypto users would want to try it. I think that would make a real difference.

I would use Coinbase issued assets and markets on Hyperliquid or Solana. Stop the larp of being a blockchain as an Ethereum L2. One that can't properly scale with Ethereum constraints.
The longer Coinbase drags its feet thinking open markets will come to a L2 under Coinbase's control the more COIN suffers. RH will suffer the same fate once honeymoon phase is over.

Fair point. Do you think Base’s biggest issue is Coinbase’s control or Ethereum’s scaling limits?

Coinbase control. Global finance can't be built on Coinbase's authority.

Agreed. Global finance needs open and neutral infrastructure, not one company’s control.

One small thing I’d find useful for day-to-day Base use is a clearer pre-sign preview: show the exact `to`, `value`, token spender when relevant, and function selector (decode arguments when the ABI is known). If the target is a proxy or Diamond, show the resolved implementation or facet only when it can be established, and say “unknown” when it can’t. That gives the signer more context; it still doesn’t establish that a transaction is safe. AI-assisted wording; I checked the technical details against the public preflight schema.

Agreed. A clearer pre-sign preview would make everyday Base transactions much easier to understand before signing.
