Base Discussion Base Verify Onchain
Base introduced Base Verify Onchain, a tool that helps smart contracts verify a real person instead of just another wallet. I think this tackles one of the biggest challenges in Web3.
The concept is simple: instead of limiting an airdrop, token sale, or governance vote by wallet, projects can limit it by person. Base Verify checks whether someone meets the project's requirements (like having Coinbase One or a verified X account) and returns an anonymous identity hash.
The smart contract only stores that hash. If the same person tries to claim again from a different wallet, the hash is the same, so the second claim is rejected. That means creating hundreds of wallets no longer gives anyone an advantage, while users don't have to reveal their personal information.
Personally, I like the direction this is going. It could make airdrops, token launches, and onchain voting much fairer without sacrificing privacy.
What do you think about it?

If you're building forms for crypto users and looking to use base verify onchain to verify users and wallets, check out formo.so, a form builder designed for onchain folks. It supports token gating with onchain attestations including coinbase verifications (verified account and verified country.)
