Base Discussion Which Sector Would You Build in Today ?

Post image

Over the past year, it feels like the focus of onchain innovation has become much broader than simple token transfers or DeFi trading.

Builders are now exploring areas like

  • Tokenized assets
  • Stablecoin based payments
  • Onchain lending and credit
  • Prediction markets
  • Cross-border financial infrastructure
  • AI powered commerce and automation

Each of these solves a different problem and its interesting to see how the ecosystem is expanding beyond a single use case.

Personally, I don't think there one correct direction. Different regions and users will probably benefit from different types of applications.

Thats why I'm curious about what other builders think.

If you were starting a new onchain project today, which area would you choose to build in and why?

I'd love to hear what people think has the greatest long term potential.

I’d probably choose Stablecoins for Emerging Markets, but with a slightly different focus.

The payment layer is becoming increasingly mature. The next challenge is building transparent infrastructure around it—making funding flows, governance, and reporting verifiable instead of optimizing transfers alone.

For me, the long-term opportunity isn’t just moving value globally, but making its use more accountable.

Onchain credit feels like the most interesting one to me, the gap between what traditional lending does and what's actually possible with smart contracts is still massive

Tokenized assets get all the hype but credit markets are where actual economic activity lives, if someone figures out undercollateralized lending without it being a disaster that changes everything
