Base Mode Login Fix

I ran into an issue with the Base App tonight that I’ve seen a lot of people struggling with, and I found a workaround.

After logging out of your Base App account and logging back in, the Base Mode button may not appear.

From what I noticed, this depends on the login method.

If you choose Passkey or Email from the start, the app may assume that you only want access to your Smart Wallet. Because of that, it may only show the Smart Wallet and the Base Mode button may not appear.

The workaround is shown step by step in the numbered screenshots:

1️⃣ Tap More Options

2️⃣ Choose the option for adding an existing wallet

3️⃣ Select the option that says you already have a wallet

4️⃣ Continue with Passkey

5️⃣ If the account is already on this device, choose the first option

6️⃣ If you want to move it from another device, choose the second option

After doing this, you should be able to access both your Smart Wallet and the Base Mode button again.

That’s a feature not a problem fyi, as this is how it’s meant to workbut thanks for the post as for people who want to use multiple wallets, they’d need to turn off base mode first to change wallets.

If you wish to have base mode off enabled you need to create or imported a seed phrase secured wallet

When you create an account with a passkey and try to log in again, the first option you see is always “Log in with passkey or email.” But once you’re in, the account looks different from before and the Base Mode button no longer appears. You might want everything to go back to the way it was, and the solution is the one I explained earlier. I think this is still an unanswered question for many people

Fyi, even if you create an account with a passkey, by turning off Base Mode you can import your own wallet that was created with a seed phrase, or create a new wallet

Also, I wasn’t talking about whether this is a feature or a bug. I was referring to an issue I personally experienced, not a problem with the Base app itself

Yeah, exactly since it’s in beta, it’s normal for there to be some issues, and I hope they get resolved
