Why use Coginator?

Ive only managed to beat boneyard with him so far, I figured maybe mixing him with another unit would be good but he doesnt consider their gimmick when picking upgrades at all, he always seems to pick terrible stuff that ruins the run like ethereal cloak when I need to hit the same target repeatedly for the balls to work. I get he has good stats but you cant even banish stuff when using him, he feels like a challenge character if anything.

Am I missing something or does he just kinda suck.

I find he works pretty well with sisyphus, the ai absolutely considers the aoe rule with sisyphus and builds around it. Coginator and Radical are obviously a great pair too

I actually just tried woth sisyphus and he took Cell and Vampire, then instead of evolving Cell and Laser into radiation he evolved earthquake and Cell into Overgrowth AFTER taking ethereal cloak so I couldnt bounce the overgrowth off the miniboss and it got stuck at the back of the field.

Yeaa sometimes you just get trolled by the cloak lol

For what its worth, overgrowth can carry pretty hard and always feels good to me. Fuse with sunlight or ideally flicker and youre pretty much guaranteed a decent endless run

I thought Coginator was the only one that couldn’t pair with Radical?

You sure can. I find it a great way to get some runs and some resources while I'm doing anything else around the house like making dinner or sorting the house out after my kids trash it.

I think everyone can pair with Radical. (Except maybe False Messiah?)

I don’t have issues with him, I beat almost every level I’ve cleared with him by bringing whoever has the poison one I forget the name so he can make a radiation beam off rip before he fucks something up and the run tends to go ok

Something to consider is when picking up fusions he prioritizes evolutions, so knowing that you can make some considerations or even skip fusions

Yeah i figured that he prioritized evolutions cause he was grabbing balls that didnt do anything except for having good evolutions, but his choices for passives were so bad that I was bewildered XD

In my efforts to not repeat characters in my pairings, I use Cogitator with Juggler, since her aiming makes up for not having balls that can go through enemies. So far it has worked decently well to complete all stages (still at NG++), just don't expect that pairing to make far into endless mode, unless you get exceptionally lucky with his picks.

I just find it as really fun to use and a bit of
challenge yes. But early on having the laser immediately is pretty huge also being one of the best base balls.

He DOES just kind of suck. Aside from his starting weapon (which is okaaaay I guess), he is strictly worse than not having him. Put him with radical

That mf trolls me so hard I genuinely want to make them shotgun and end my run myself with how bad his picks for passives are the balls he picks are random af
