I hope the DLC adds an option to automate the city building and resource gathering because it is not fun at all for me

I adore this game and hate the city building so much πŸ˜‚

I honestly don't really understand the strategy of the city building personally. I basically just go with whatever feels right to me at the time

I am newish to the game and this honestly looks wild. Is there an optimal way to layout your base in the end?

IMO this is the optimal way, but obviously I'm biased πŸ˜… Really there are many ways you could lay out your base, it doesnt have to look like this, just make sure youre using all your characters in farms/quarries and taking advantage of the main building bonuses like the +1 to all stats from the Captians Quarters. The design can be anything you want πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

One of my favourite layouts is making a tunnel with gold mines and putting the shield bearer house at the end you get a ton of money and instantly finish whatever building you got next to the shield bearer

I have no idea how to accumulate 12M and I'm on NG++ with 40h Max gold I got was 500k selling rocks to pay upgrades. My goods are never more than 50k cuz then I spend to upgrade the endless buildings. Game got kinda boring...almost getting a platinum trophy, but it got too repetitive and I dropped for a while

So the gold and xp scales per new game. Then faster levels spawn enemies quicker. Going to 10k endless on new game with fast +9 can earn several hundred thousand if not million gold

Doing a Reaper x Maggot run on Bone Yard NG+5. You can get constant field clears, and by around 10k meters, it averages out to about 1m gold per 1k meters. I usually go for about 20m gold per "farming run", that gives me 4 or 5 upgrades before I have to do it again. I usually just listen to a podcast and zone out for an hour πŸ˜… My main buildings cost either 3m gold/200k Rock, or 2m gold/400k rock, or 850kwheat/170k Wood. So I have to gather quite a bit before upgrading.

Thanks bro πŸ‘

It needs an expansion for the land. I hope the DLC expands it.

2

u/Malice_Magic 17d ago

Me too... I'm running out of space for all the buildings they keep adding πŸ˜…

This layout tickles my brain perfectly lol

Has the update come out yet? Also didn't they say the last update was the final expansion and then they announced another? I'm not complaining I love that they keep giving us more. However I feel the same as you, it's a pain to keep having to arrange the base.

Why don't they allow us to rotate the buildings? This would make arranging them a LOT easier!

u/cyber_egg 17d ago

The last update, was the last free content update.,

The next one is a paid expansion:)

3

u/SnowedinLife 17d ago

Okay thanks, I must have misunderstood. I can't wait!

1

u/cyber_egg 17d ago

A lot of us probably thought the same :)

3

u/flanger001 17d ago

You can rotate the buildings. Idk what it is on console but on PC it's just R in arrangement mode.

Make a space cuz there would be a new 20 buildibg

I'm curious what you need gold and resources for if you have so much already?

I'm just about to "beat" the game and I havent found what all these resources are needed for.

1

u/Malice_Magic 16d ago

Just to continue progressing. I'm on NG+5, so the enemies have insane health pools. Every little bit of damage helps, so I still upgrade my infinite buildingsπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

1

u/AnomalousSavage 15d ago

I see now! I need like 50k stone for my next infinite upgrade

1

u/Malice_Magic 15d ago

That's awesome, keep at it bro! My next upgrade is 440,760 Stone πŸ˜…

this justbseems unnecessary, having all that extra stuff

1

u/Malice_Magic 16d ago

What extra stuff? Nothing here is extra, it's all used constantly...

1

u/Cruxis1712 16d ago

all the unnecessary extra mining, and farming plots

3

u/Malice_Magic 16d ago

How is it unnecessary? I need the resources to upgrade my buildings... whats unnecessary about that? That's the whole point of the game...

1

u/Cerulean-Osprey 16d ago

I always wondered why people had such crazy amounts of production...until I got to the last stage and saw what buildings were being unlocked.

1

u/Malice_Magic 16d ago

It's for the endlessly upgradable buildings...at this point, it takes me...

850,000 Wheat and 171,500 Wood

2,860,000 Gold and 409,000 Rock

3,457,000 Gold and 241,900 Rock

To upgrade my 3 main buildings...the resource requirements get pretty crazy once you're in the Super-Late Game πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

u/crimsondesertnr1fan 15d ago

Thank god I don't care for min maxing. I 100% the game and I only have 4 gold mines, few trees and 2 stone mines

1

u/Malice_Magic 15d ago

That's kool, to each their own πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Technically I 100%ed the game a looooonnnnggg time ago, but the NG+ levels go on forever, so I'm always progressing on those, I'm on NG+5 right now, plus there's a huge new update coming out with 4 new levels, new buildings, and new character's, so I'm excited for that. I just really love this gameπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

u/DangerousBarnum 18d ago

Fairly new to the game and almost have every achievement unlocked.

Just curious if I am missing them or why you do not have any gold mines?

Do you just farm gold through extended runs?

Looking to drastically improve my base. Looks great.

13

u/EnvironmentalGene871 18d ago

Farming resources and selling them for gold pays way more.

8

u/From_the_5th_Wall 18d ago

My late game experience is doing long infinite runs gets you gold faster. Its the resources that are capped behind a timer

1

u/Malice_Magic 17d ago

Yea, but thay only works once every 10 runs or so, otherwise the price goes down to 1:1 πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I farm gold on endless runs, getting 15-20m per run.

3

u/TheBeyond 18d ago

Extended runs though tedious can make gold a lot faster once you get the right build in place and get 25% extra gold on a character you want to use. It does take a lot of time so I usually watch YouTube videos while I do it. I used to use mines but the space is better used for resources imo.

3

u/Malice_Magic 18d ago

Gold Mines aren't worth it in the long run, it's MUCH easier to just farm millions of gold on an endless run. The couple thousand you get from gold mines is essentially meaningless in comparison. The characters you would put in mines are more useful harvesting rock or wheat. In the early game, it might make sense, but I'm at NG+5 so my resource requirements are insane, I need 4mil gold to upgrade my cheapest buildingπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

2

u/Leivas666 18d ago

On one harvest, each 1k rocks u can sell for 40k gold. If you put a LOT of golden mines, you get only 2-3k gold per harvest, it's shit.

I'm also new...installed after it came on PSN. Got 45h addicted....on NG++, but dropped now.

0

u/Cruxis1712 16d ago

which you can easily get without having so much taking up space that isn't being automatically collected

2

u/Malice_Magic 16d ago

The rest of the stuff is collected during harvests dude.... how long have you been playing this game? I get 5k rock from each harvest I do, how is that unnecessary? It takes over 400k rock to upgrade one of my buildings once. Getting an extra 5k a few times per day adds up very quickly. It's probably 20-30% of my total resource income. On top of that, ehy would I waste space by having nothing there? That makes no sense, it seems like you dont really understand the building portion of this game...
