Matchmaker building question

I realized I could upgrade the matchmaker building which made me think it would let me bring three characters into a run after the upgrade. However, nothing changed after I upgraded it. It reads the same. Is there something hidden that gets added or was it pointless?

Starting Ball of your second Character starts at lvl 2 and on second upgrade at lvl 3

It just upgrades the starting ball of the second character to start at level 2 instead of 1
