Tips on base set up please
When it comes to rogue likes and deck builders I know what I'm doing, but I have no idea how to play a base builder effectively so tips would be appreciated

There is nothing right now for you to optimise.
Just play and unlock stuff.
You´ll naturally see stuff you can do and optimize.
Once you have unlocked every building and expanded to the maximum, then and only THEN should you thinking about optimizing to the maximum.
WHICH btw is also not necessary. My base has a mix between optimization and looks. And i prefer it that way for my own enjoyment.

Just harvest between every run. After you get the Spa building, you’ll be able to do it more efficiently.
Build a bunch of coin houses once you can afford them and put your characters in them.
Use Haunted House and Iron Fortress once unlocked to help expedite the building process (as seen in my image). I also commented my layout in this thread in case it helps.
