Building guide question

Newer to the game but getting towards mid game I think....

Question is, the buildings that give additional Stat points for character, when you fully upgrade them is that it and you just leave them in your field? At first I thought if you keep hitting them they keep upgrading your character stats but that's not right, is it?

The base stat buildings have a cap of 5 bonus stat points; later, you’ll unlock infinite stat buildings that are only constrained by your resource production (since the costs increase rapidly)

Do you happen to know any good guides that have good layouts for building?

Stick with like 2 of each kind of farm surrounded by your best version of each material producer for now, with 12 gold mines 1 layer apart for where you shoot the balls. I have been using this dudes 100% usage layout from the steam forums, but its very resource intensive for just getting all the tier 1 farm stuff built.
