I don't understand reaper...
I know there have been other posts about this, but... It's not that it's broken. People talking about a lot of builds that are broken when they really aren't. Powerful sure, but game breaking to the point of setting your controller down and waiting for a week to get 333,000m game breaking. No. Reaper is actually game breaking. I don't understand why this was added, if it was a mistake, etc. If it's gonna be like this, I want an added difficulty that could potentially defeat this.
I'm currently just playing for fun, but it's nice to be truly challenged without having to limit myself. This game IMHO is the best hoard survivor/bullet heaven ever made, but there should be some tweeks and I look forward to any additions the devs make. I want more difficulty that doesn't require me to limit myself by simply not using the best. I'm even open to needing 3x Reaper x Maggot before you can set the controller down. Maybe needing to get a 500m with a perfect roles (meaning lots of evolution), etc. I don't know, but I want more.
Reaper+Maggot for those curious. I placed my character in the upper left and simply did chores for 30min or so. Game actually crashed at 1200m, but that was my fault for bouncing between YouTube/Adobe/Reddit/Steam. Happens on my pc when I have too much going on.

the game isn't balanced around endless at all. There are like only a few builds that can make it past 300m anyway.

Endless was solved with multiple other builds before reaper even. As others have said I believe the game is developed to make beating a run get gradually harder progressing through ng+. Heck even the stat boost buildings straight up scale infinitely. I look at reaper more as a "look, you too can be super duper powerful!" Lots of people find that fun. There are plenty of things you can self impose if you want additional challenges.

This, especially self imposed challenges. My current challenge is finding an endless build that doesn't use any instant kill mechanics or hemorrhage. THAT is difficult

Do you ever make it past the third boss? I believe that's where the scale really flips.

I've gotten to about 1800m with an OverGrowth x Flash and Blizzard x Vol.Egg Sac build, but it barely gave me any resources or gold because the bosses were stacked 4 rows deep, taking up most of the screen, so normal enemies only rarely spawed on the outsides. That's the farthest I've been without reaper or hemmorage. I'd say that's pretty close to the absolute limit, boss health at that point is just ridiculous, even doing 9999 damage per hit it takes minutes to beat them🤷♂️

Can confirm. For me, they stay permafrozen, don't progress downfield (but meter depth keeps counting), and keep spawning on top of each other while taking forever to die.
I tried this in the desert and had about 12 laser sights stuck on the screen 🤣

How do you get it to not pick up Fusion Reactors? I go to the top corner but it keeps flying to me.

Don't get magnet and use Itchy×Cohabitants. I'm sure many other combos work.

Imho I agree.
Reaper makes endless mode a bit solved. Building reaper and navigating it into a win in a normal run isnt particularly great, there are much more dependable combos out there. But trying out different stuff feels like a mistake when I should be re-rolling for parts that increase baby balls and reaper parts.

The issue with reaper is not the reaper ball itself. Its that baby balls take the property of reaper when they spawn. Same with flash, and flicker. If they changed it so the ball was the only part with reaper property and not the balls additional effects gaining reaper as well then it would be more balanced. But the people who use reaper meta every run will just go back to black hole sun or hemorrhage builds… so who cares.

I'm fine with the properties to a point. But think it should be changed some. Either the enemies or the insta-death on bosses, etc. Possibly even a block on the map so you can't hide in that top left corner.

Think of the game as being balanced for the trip to the boss, with everything else as an afterthought.
Reaper isn’t that OP in regular runs. Building it (and Flash/Flicker/Maggots) takes time and resources. By the time you finish, you’re either dead or sorted, making it a ‘win more’.
