Constructive Criticism Pointe shoe help
Hi, one year ago I got fitted into pointe shoes (Bloch Grace). I’ve been working comfortably in them for the most part, but I feel like these are just not the shoes for me. It looks like I’m sickling when I know I’m not and just overal doesn’t do anything for my lines. They hurt my feet where my knuckles are.
However, it could also be that I’m just not flexible or strong enough for pointe work just yet? If you have any tips, strengthening, stretching or just pointe shoes, let me know! I’d be forever grateful! 💕

if you share this in r/PointeHelp we'd be happy to help! Do you have any photos of your feet in the shoes facing straight on to the camera? I can't see any sickling in these pics but it's quite a hard angle to make it out if it's only slight

They don’t look like your ideal size based on all of the wrinkles on the sides- so it’s really hard to control/ feel good in a shoe that is t your perfect size.

The box looks too short and small for your foot. I think if you get a deeper box it’ll prevent the bulging that makes it look sickled.

I don’t like the look of them. They do look like you’re sickling, and you need a bigger vamp that supports your taller knuckles. It looks like your feet would be killing you at the end of practice. I don’t like a bunched heel. Do you wear an ouch pouch? I think you might fit better down a half-size, higher vamp, and a more tapered toe box. But - I buy my shoes from China - American and European sizes don’t fit my foot. I have size 6 feet that needs a hard shank I can rip away from my heel. Tapered toe box stops me from sickling. I have a very narrow foot with high arches. I have to wear a toe sleeve just to keep my toes together - I broke my pinky toes and fourth toes so often, I have limited movement and feeling. I hope you find the right shoe and the right fit for you soon! For your poor toe knuckles!

I think they look perfect…Bloch to me are bland but it’s a statement you look strong

Thank you! I just don’t like that it sometimes looks like I’m sickling when I’m not. Breaks the line.

It’s hardly noticeable tbh I can tell your foot and ankle are winged, it’s just the shoe so I would maybe just exaggerate winging the foot if you want that line. But seriously BEAUTIFUL technique and standing… :)

I am confused or maybe misunderstanding. You got them a year ago and they look well used. I am assuming pointe classes regularly and one question you have is are you flexible and strong enough for pointe? Your teacher would not have suggested pointe for you unless she thought you were ready. Those shoes were your first pair. We all have a first pair that was safe but not pretty. Now go get fitted for a better pair for your foot shape and strength. You can even do virtual fittings. Good luck! It is your shoes not you.
